    Hi

Ive been lurking for a while (and getting great mod tips), but need some active help.

I have a 1st gen with apprx 300k on it, and after all the overland road trips, it needs a bunch of tlc. Over the last bunch of months my fuel consumption has doubled, and I get 200km per tank.

Which is "fine", Im happy to pay for work on an older, sentimental vehicle.
My problem is finding a shop to do it.

I live in Toronto, and I have 2 great shops near me foir my work truck, but they're always super busy.

I want to overhaul to taco completely over the next 2-3 years (engine, body, suspension, interior)...I just need a shop interested, and preferably, someone who knows taco's, and overland setups. I just love how small this truck is vs new truck. They just keep getting bigger.

Im not a mechanical zero (I do basic maintenance myself, its saves time vs taking it and waiting), but most of this is beyond my skill sets.

Im looking for recommendations, as finding a shop (or even enthusiast) online has been leading me more toward 50-60's classic car guys, which isnt what Im after

    Thanks in advance.

I appreciate that, but I have a some intensive business, and simply don't have the space in my garage in the winter to do the work.
Theres only so many hobbies I can have.

All vehicles depreciate, so they are a poor investment.
Im just choosing to waste money on one Im attached to.

But I do appreciate the link

I’d still use the videos as a basis for things you can diagnose and check before you decide to let someone else do the work.

    Completely reasonable.

I'm watching them right now. Always good to be informed.

I have a haynes manual too....sometimes you just want to throw money at the problem....

@tacognome - Reading your original post, I am exactly in your place in terms of location, status of the Tacoma, type of needs I have, etc. I was going through a trail a month ago and eventually came across some ATV'ers who were surprised that I could fit and maneuver on "their" trail so well...yes the size of the 1st Gen is nice! I am looking for someone to help me the same as you posted.
    Any luck?
