We finally getting some “snow” in the Portland area lol!

It's cut from a 5x5 sheet of 1/2 inch baltic birch plywood (not marine grade). Varnish is Helmsman spar urethane, clear satin finish. 2 light coats and then one heavy coat. Looks nice so far.

 

Lol... On the left is a Carver 420ti which is my bikepacking bike. On the right is a transition spur. Just sold my 40lb knolly delirium and will be building up a revel rail which should be a lot nicer to ride.

Brought the spur for this trip. Just rode Case Mtn at Three Rivers. Going to check out San Juaquin river tr this afternoon then Redding tomorrow. Already saw a mtn lion last night!

 

where did you see the mountain lion ?

 

Spotted another owner in my area. That’s 4 total I’ve seen on the road here so far lol!

 

Any idea why they didn't powder coat the piece that they "reengineered" to mate with the second gen.

Case Mtn in Three Rivers. It was a lion cub. I would have guessed bobcat based on it's size but a hiker who saw it up closer said it had a long tail. Turned around at that point as I didn't want an encounter like the guy in utah. The kitty was just sitting up on a hill slope in the middle of a switchback in the road. A bit unusual to see a cub alone in the open, was hoping it was not recently orphaned. It looked a bit lost.

Would rather be in the mountains instead of San Antonio with 4 1/2" of snow, since we're having rolling outages due to all of Texas getting snow. Have the camping gear and Jackery solar generator ready in case this gets any worse.

 

Mine looks like that too and is temporary. A new piece is in process.

 

It's easy to do if you have the tacoma bed mat, I just traced the outline and got busy with a skill saw. The hardest part has been staining the edges and not missing drips of stain on the underside.

 

I do not have a bed mat, unfortunately. So there will be some measuring involved.

GF spotted this boi in San Diego today. Also got the email for the 50% deposit, stoked.

 

Looks like I'm up for color selection and 50% deposit as well.

Anyone have any thoughts on grey vs tan tent material? I don't really care how it looks, but anyone notice any performance reason to choose one over the other?

Looks decent on a Ford! The angle from the bedside to the tent extrusion is greater, but still looks good IMO
