On this note, many gas stations require any external tank being filled, to be removed from the vehicle in order to fill it. Like you can not fill your 20L jerry cans in the back of the truck.. They want you to take it out, and put it on the ground to fill it. It is a thing.

So having this on your roof would eliminate you filling it in certain places that are being run by the 15 year old on his 2nd shift.

Pro Gas Station Attendant 'NOPE CANT FILL IT IF ITS NOT ON THE GROUND, I AM NOT TURNING THE PUMP ON'

I was just checking now, stock roof rack can hold 150lbs. 70 liters of gas weighs 112lbs. The tank would be another 10 or more lbs.

The smaller bars are the weak point though.

Alright, so again, that would require really good planning, like making sure I can transfer all the gas from the top to the main tank, to be able to move it down.

I would also have to think of ways when that wouldn't work either

Your wagon already has high center of gravity and prone to roll more than our trucks (so as 4Runner), I would highly recommend avoid liquid state items on the roof in case of roll over or un-expected weight shift while on the trails. Roof top tent - okay for overland points, gas... keep it on the bumper at the back (build bumper) ;)

I stopped carrying gasoline in general for the weekend trips, gas stations are all within reach and I just fill the truck before heading into the woods. If you plan on multi-day trail exploration, you'll be surprised to find how many logging stations have gas, in all my multi day trail explorations there were only 2 places where extra 25L of gas were needed is Death Valley and Mojave Road. Lighter is better

Once you get a plate bumper with swing-out tire carrier, there are a few companies sellings aux fuel tanks that go in the stock spare location. Toyota probably offers an OEM tank in overseas markets, but you'll want something with a skid plate on the bottom. Just $$$, possibly $$$$.

    Hi guys,

What kind of lights do you install in the rear to be able to see when you are reversing in the bush?
And where do you install them?

    Cheap $30 Amazon pod lights

    :pccoffee:
goal is to get as wide of a flood light as you can get. It just needs to illuminate the tree you're about to back into.

this is what I did and this is my post from 2011, I’ve changed each bulb once but the rubber housings have held up well and it’s still working flawlessly 10 years later!

3rd gens have a backup camera with night vision, so it alleviates the need for brighter lights somewhat...

The LX470 uses the same #921 bulbs as Tacos, so you can do the 35W HIR bulb upgrade. It's the easiest upgrade compared to adding aux lights: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/gy6-35-hir-921-reverse-light-upgrade-vs-high-power-leds.474996/ Unfortunately not many places have them in stock, so they're expensive ($36 ea. x2): https://www.amazon.ca/Sylvania-58896-35BT4Q-OSRAM-Single-Halogen/dp/B001BMUFN8/

That reverse camera light takes 2 bulbs?

I don't mind to buy them, it would save me from running wires all over the place

Started my fender flare/wheel well liner removal project this afternoon. The mission is to seek and destroy any rust corrosion on my 20 yr. old taco. I have never removed the fender flares but I always wondered how bad it was in there. Over the years I have always squirted Fluid Film in there as best I could in there by backing off the screws.

I was quite PLEASED when I removed the driver side rear! It was almost like new when I wiped away the oily buildup. The last picture shows the only rust I found so far.

Good example of how Krown creeps around from the backside through the fender clip holes.
