I have a 2009 TRD 4x4 Taco with tow package. I bought it new. All the posts I see her on TW regarding the factory tranny coolers say that they are small and if doing much towing you should replace it with a new large capacity cooler. Today I’m under the hood doing my monthly check of things and I just realized that the cooler sure doesn’t look small to me. It’s close to the same width and height as the radiator. I don’t see how you could get a bigger one in there unless it was a little thicker. So what’s up? Am I missing something here? Did the 2009 come with a larger tranny cooler?

pictures of what your talking about would be a huge help, theres a trans cooler which is the size of a large smart phone then the A/C condesor and then ur radiator... those 2 are basically the same size.. the trans cooler is a joke....

Sorry I F’d up. I now see the tiny tranny cooler. But it looks like there are 2 radiators there with about a 2 inch space between them. What that? Why not just one radiator?

The front large one is your AC condenser. The rear thick one is the radiator.

Thanks guys. I quit working on cars over 20 years ago. I should have known that was the AC condenser. I use to build muscle cars and race cars. Been away from auto mechanics too long. Now I just do minor maintenance. Thanks again for setting me straight.
