I have a Yakima kayak mount which attaches to the roof rack. This raises the kayak higher, the kayak touching the fin antenna is not an issue. The concern is the weight of kayak weighing down the roof rack causing it to press on the fin.

It was pretty bad during the beginning of the pandemic. Restrictions got stricter around the time when USS Theodore Roosevelt arrived. Personally felt bad for the captain, he was just trying to do the right thing for his crew.

That's pretty much what I'm doing, but with the Rola bed racks. Looks like for 'yaks, you would need a carrier option to cradle the hull. I load the canoe upside-down, so it's a level surface (almost) along the gunwale.

Thanks for that info. I'm hoping the leak issue was corrected, having the truck 3 months now I have not noticed any leak.

From what i can tell, KTJO is the only one that makes them. I have the model were you just swap the mirrors. The wiring was killer though, lots of wiring...

Thanks for the reply. I'm heavily considering putting it on my wishlist of mods, but also hesitant given the reports alot of the forum members have voiced on here.
Also worried that if I would opt for the mirror swap "core" option, I could get an inferior mirror or incorrect components. It seems like it could be a risky transaction - I was just hoping to hear if anyone else was making these mods or if KTJO's products/service have improved from the time of these reports.

On page 204 someone said she did the same thing on a 4runner forum. Came up with some clever mods, built them like shit, and then never respond.
She seems like a traveling snake oil salesman.

Just went out and checked my aftermarket OEM clone and there's about a inch clearance. Looks like the clone makers corrected this problem.

yea I didn’t use the switch that came with his kit. I ran the wires to under the hood and connected them to a relay and ran the wires from the switch to the relay.

Personally knowing how her quality control is or lack of I would not trust her to do it for me but I would (still considering at one point) to get the diy and tackle it myself

Just ordered a new set of mirrors. Couldn't hold out any longer. You never know when a little added visibility might save you from being squashed by a log truck.
