Subaru "rumble" for our truck?

I came across this video of a Civic that had an Unequal Length (UEL) header installed on a regular 4cyl, and BOOM, subaru "rumble" exhaust note!

I'm well aware that the UEL header design is NOT as efficient as an equal length header.

THE MAIN REASON FOR THIS POST: Has any manufacturer made an UEL header for our Tacomas equipped with a 4cyl? They sound so good!

Not that I'm aware of. But I will say the exhaust note of my 2tr on decel with whatever the P/O put on here... it's got the rumble. Made me cock my head first time it did it for sure. It's the factory header, but I'll have to try and get under the truck sometime to figure out what's actually under it for exhaust. So it is possible to be sure.

I mean you could make one just for the unique noise but also realize that it hurts performance and economy some by reducing scavenging and would be a total crap shoot trying to get the lengthens unequal enough. Also you may have to do alternating cycls depending on the 2TR vs the subie boxer firing order.

Lastly a I4 obviously just isn't the same as an H4 so you would probably have a hard time replicating the iconic sound.

For what it's worth newer subies and those whom upgrade to high performance and turbos go to equal lengthens to improve overall performance and turbo response.

Your cats and cat back, primarily your muffler, and you tune will have the biggest impact on engine note.

 

Before I went turbo, I had the stock header and a Magnaflow 2.5" to 3" exhaust, and on decel and idle it had the WRX rumble to it. I had gotten plenty of comments from my friends with Subarus that it sounded oddly like one.

Then I went turbo and that was out the window

 

Get a custom exhaust shop to make one for you.

Maganaflow 11225 is what I had originally before the 3". I had it welded in at an exhaust shop. Direct replacement, and it sounded VERY much like a WRX.

Right now I have the Magnaflow 15240 catback system and it has a deeper tone to it, but slightly less rumble than the smaller diameter muffler/piping.

 

Sure it's possible. With enough time and resources, you can make your truck sound like anything you like.
Everybody wants to mess with their trucks and then gets upset when things don't work out. Fix it after it breaks, not before

 

My brother has an 01 Civic hatch he swapped one of the JDM B18C engines into. He found one of the UEL's on ebay for under $200 and bought it. It was cute for a few days but he went back to his 4-2-1 header. That little car is a lot of fun though, he just uses it for autocross though. It's started as an HX and had no AC, PS, came without a radio and had a gutless engine but got 44mpg.

Anyway, the header isn't anything special, cylinders 1 and 2 are wyed together right off the head then run through a big circular loop that joins into cylinders 3 and 4 right after they're wyed together. With the firing order it ends up being just like the UEL from a Subaru. You could get a cheap used header on ebay and loop 1 and 2 around the same way since I'm pretty sure both have the same firing order.

 

i have the 19275 magnaflow catback 3" back system on my truck, paired with a K&N CAI. I think it has the subaru braap to it, which is what i was after. It sounds best when you are into the throttle in the snow
