That was a fabulous story and now the next time I see a tire iron I will think of you and Early Bird.

    150 out of how many?

This reminds me I still need to find a mower.

I have hardbacks of my favorite authors books as well.

I am not a fan of Stephen King though. :anonymous:

I'm guessing reference books having to do with wildlife and habitat?
I have quite a few myself, having been an outdoorsman all my life.
Though I suppose you'd consider them amateur level.

    -------

    And now...

Literary Critics (and why they suck) with Gritto. :burp:

    Fiction? Meh.
I much prefer History, which is far richer and often stranger than fiction.

However, I do go back and re-read Tolkien's books every ten years or so...
...demonstrating the old saying that the exception proves the rule.
Tolkien himself at times referred to his books as "invented history" and gave them quite a lot of depth.
Much of that being supplied by his knowledge of various European legends and myths, which he could read in the original, ancient languages.
Beowulf and the Norse sagas, most particularly.

Many literary critics over the years have persisted in treating his works as allegory.
Sauron being a stand-in for Hitler, Stalin, whatever...
...and the Ring standing in for the Bomb, or some such.
    Amazing.
You have to wonder about their reading comprehension and fitness to be literary critics at all.

Tolkien himself explicitly stated that he despised allegory.
Allegory is an attempt at dominating the reader by subterfuge...imposing the author's viewpoint...
...usually the author's political viewpoint. Ugh.
There's no denying though that a moral thread runs through all Tolkien's works.

    -------

    TV?
Hmmm...too much of it is mindless and morally ugly.
Some of it is good though, if you're discriminating.

Adverts, however, will sap your soul.
I mostly watch YouTube stuff...with Adblock on.

Did you get snow or freezing rain?

It stayed just above freezing here, so we dodged this one.
    Plain old rain.
The boomers that were forecast didn't happen either.
