I like rear wenches too, but I'm actually seeking advice on rear winch design. My spare tire is removed from under the bed. I have access to a cheap 8k Warn Evo that I am considering mounting under the bed as a rear winch, somehow. Is this going to be a custom job, or does somebody make a good rear bumper for the 2nd gen Tacomas with winch feet built in ?

    FWIW.

My buddy did a lot of off roading.
What he did is use front and rear tow hitches.
Used a custom receiver and stored it in the bed. Ran cable along the frame.
Used quick disconnects for the cables.
    Easy peasy..

Good point. I would prefer to keep the receiver hitch for towing. Sounds like a receiver hit winch mount is probably the easiest way to go.

Do you have a 2nd battery mounted in the rear? Going to be a lot of copper running 2/0 cable to the rear bumper. :)

Picture of his custom built front end.
    Scratch built bumper
    Custom winch mount.
His license plate has a receiver and goes into the mount and you can’t even tell it’s there..
