Spare Tire on Bed Rack

Recently picked up the CBI Overland Bed Rack and bigger wheels. I have a 6' bed so I don't need a RTT. I plan on putting my 5th wheel spare on top of the bed rack. Does anyone have a similar setup to this? Have any tips on how to securely mount it? Haven't seen any threads on here dedicated to mounting the spare on the bed rack

 

A spare tire/wheel is heavy. If you're going to mount it up high, be sure you have the muscle power to handle it. I don't. All I can do is manhandle it into the bed.

 

Definitely raises your center of gravity. Just something to be aware of.

 

Well it's not like I'd be getting it down every other day. Best case scenario is every 10,000 miles for a tire rotation, worst case scenario are random occurrences. But yes, I can heave em up there

 

Yes, Spare wheel plus bed rack adds roughly 200lbs at cab roof height which is why I countered this by opting for steel skids from the front to the t case, fuel tank, and diff. It's not an exact counter but it at least keeps the CoG better than no skids
