definitely suggest a local ‘Yota Graveyard if you can find one. I know that seems like an obvious answer, but, seriously, those guys will work with you to find what you need and won’t charge hardly anything. Got a super specific servo from under the dash at my local yard for about a 1/3 the price of what the dealer wanted.

also, to answer your part number question, I use this super dope resource called Toyo DIY. Put your VIN in and, presto, every part number you never wanted.

Had a little free time today so started in on a skid plate build. I decided to go with 3/16” aluminum plate to match my bumper, the weight savings are a bonus too. The finished product will end up having an angle iron frame behind it to lend support to the aluminum. To cut down on electrolysis issues and vibrations I’ll be using bushings made of MLV between the dissimilar metals. Today I got the mid section of the skid plate cut, bent, and fitted. Along with that I started making templates for the side pieces to fully enclose the skid plate. I’ll post more when I work on it next.

    here are some pics:

I needed about 4 1/2 inches of drop from the front of the skid to the back. nice. Give yourself some clearance on the side plates. You wont want them that close to the frame and such, they will move, especially when getting smacked by a rock.

Good call! I actually hadn’t even thought of that, but I’m glad you said something. I’ll make sure to clearance them in case I ever put the skid plate to use.

None of the local driveshaft shops will even touch my rear DS to shorten it. Guess I'll just need to try and source a used ext/dc V6 auto 4wd rear DS

    Did they give any reasoning?

Just like other things, everyone in the internet says it's super easy and cheap to find a shop to do it, in the real world that's not the case. At least not for me either.

One shop said they wouldn't retube with a smaller dia and "small yoke doesn't go into big tube buddy"
Another shop said he could do it but he'd be changing out yokes to fit a bigger dia tubing and it'd be $230 all said and done.
Found a used one 2 hours away for $200 so trying to go that route but its a junk yard and they aren't pulling parts for the rest of the week so it'd be next Friday by the time I could get over there
