    Hey, Folks.

I've seen it mentioned in a few threads that the Taco mirror doesn't dim as well as expected. I have also experienced this in the Taco and our other cars. While I do prefer them over the manual kind, I have modded them to dim a bit sooner.

What I had done in the past was put a layer of black tape over some painters tape and partially cover the sensor on the forward side. Auto dimming mirrors use the difference between the front and rear sensors on the mirror to decide whether to dim or not. As noted, they seem to play it a bit conservative. Adding window tint, a canopy, or similar and the situation becomes worse. While the sensors may deny helping you, that jack-off with poorly aimed headlights or high beams on will still be glaring at ya.

Similarly, I was just a bit annoyed by the green LED when the dimming function was on.

I finally remembered that I had these leftover from covering up some too-bright LEDs on our home theater equipment:

I stacked two of the small dots to blot out the green LED and one of the rectangles to cover the front sensor. The amount of coverage can be adjusted to tune the dimming.

    Have a good one,

    tony
