A little something every chance we get.
Just got a cooler for the ice cubes, and shut down the ice maker. Used a grabber stick (YAY!) to dunk a couple gallon jugs that were distilled water into the pool, so a couple gallons on standby. Happy to say there is enough pressure to slowly refill toilets! Ice is dripping off the house, but it's freezing rain again, and the side walkway is slick as can be!

 Yeah, that's what they do when they want some batteries. It's still a shock every time!

    :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

I'm sure the cold past few days just zapped those AA's batteries.

My yellow submarine station has a remote pack, and goes through the set of 4 about once a month. Usually, the signal that says it's time only shows up when it starts raining!

I hope so, glad to see we didn't end up with a bunch of ice, the low pitch roofs in the South are Not built for snow/ice weight, although they should be for the hurricane/nado's

We COULD stay above freezing all day. I'm still at 33* and our local KXAN gets to 39* by 5 PM. :fingerscrossed: I'll check the solar in a bit, but there isn't any sunshine to help yet.

Yesterday was crazy! We were sliding around the streets at 2 am driving 5 mph in the fire truck on our way to a run. Our engineer did an awesome job of getting us everywhere safely!!!!

It's amazing the amount of people that were driving about last night.

My neighbor works for SAFD on the South side of SA, I can only imagine.

lol that was a good laugh!!

Hello Americans, have we lost the pioneer roots? Or basic survival instincts?

I do agree somewhat with him, we often depend on others too much, and like myself have taken those items/services for granted, and when something happens I prefer to blame myself for not being prepared and not others.

When Katrina hit, no power for 14 days, I had generator, window units and cooking methods. I fed neighbors and provided.

2 years later, Rita hit, like another 11 days without power, I fed the same neighbors and provided. About a week into this second disaster I told each of them individually that they're on their own the next time this happens.

There was not a 3rd disaster before we moved in the year of 2014, but I still would of helped them if there was a need, I just don't understand why so many folks leave themselves so vulnerable.

I would be like ok then I need my prop taxes and utility monies back and I can deffinitly be self sufficient. This was one of the reasons I took out the electric stove and installed a gas one. I have plans to have a generator before this storm but it was gonna be for my shop in the back yard. From my previous career in the mec eng field b4 the medical world i would always try and make failsafe (no tombstone regulation here) on the things I had my hand in and I expected as such with energy and thought they had learn lessons from the hurricanes in Houston and cold storms in dfw. I was very wrong. Lol. So I'm planning now cause I do not like this.

Crap. Dropped to freezing an hour ago, and now back to 30*F. The ice dripping has mostly stopped. Broke what I could of a couple ice dams on the front corners of the roof.

We can all agree on one thing.
    This shit sucks.

Try and identify your deficiencies and make plans to correct then when able.

Genius me did not fill my 4 5gal water jugs when able because we had water.
    Water quit working this morning.

    Morning/Afternoon gents :hattip:

Got one more night to get through and get home then I'll be good. Hopefully the sleet holds off just enough that I can get home in the morning.

It was a hard night at work last night and cold as F&$k. I'm just glad I didn't bust my ass with all the ice on the ground around the plant.

Yeah I would die if I moved up north and had no experience with these kind of winters........now I can definitely say I would never want to live in a snowy part of the country.......I'll go visit but that's about it.

Definitely a lessened learned and will be more prepared next time this may happen.
