    Hello all,
My 2012 has started a weird habit that's quite frustrating. If I am driving, (no matter how long; up the street or across the country)... if I shut the truck off like to grab my mail or fuel up, etc. And then turn the truck back on, the radio doesnt come back on with it. And what's weirder is sometimes it will come back on during the remainder of my drive and sometimes it wont. For instance when I turn the truck back on after being off for a min or two, and the radio doesnt come back on, sometimes itll turn itself on after 5 min of driving. Sometimes 20 minutes after driving, and sometimes it doesnt come on at all. I once was driving across the country and had to go 8 hours without the radio because it just never came back on. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to it and I dont know what would cause this. No buttons i push allow it to come back on, it comes back on when it feels like it. And it only seems to come on automatically with the truck turning off if the truck has been off for more than like half an hour. Any help would be appreciated!!!

Mine does this. I just hit the top of the dash over the head unit and it starts to work. It's frustrating so I'm getting a new head unit next month.

Bad solder joint in the radio, internal heat causing the solder joint to open?

Burn the truck down and claim total loss, cash the check and buy a new truck.

When it's off the radio does seem warmer to the touch on the surface of the display screen.

My 2010 radio shuts off randomly while driving, seems like a common issue.

my 2010 radio shuts off in direct sunlight. in the summer i have to wait for the a/c to cool the cab before it will turn on again. from what i understand these problems started with the 2009 model. i'm saving up for an aftermarket unit and will do the speakers at the same time. it's also a good time to get a backup camera installed.

Just as an update to this thread, the radio quit working almost entirely and I replaced it with a Pioneer AVH-310EX. Works perfectly as it should. So sometimes the OEM radios just die I guess. Thanks for all the suggestions.
