To all running the 3rd Gens with the electronic doodads and push button start.

    DONT LET THE BATTERY DIE!!!!!!

Follow me. We have a '19 Honda CR-V with all the doodads. Its been parked sleeping in the single car garage for about 10 weeks. This is due to the wife working from home and other rides doing the errands. It died during its sleep.

The parasitic drain from all the computers, fobs, sensors.......absolutely drained the battery DEAD to flat ZERO. Managed to push it out of the garage to use the Tacoma to jump it. Started reasonably well, went on a 1 hour drive to put a charge on the battery. Shut it off in the driveway, tried a restart.......wouldn't even light the dashboard. The battery is so hammered it won't hold a charge for 1 minute.

I don't know about Tacomas, but I had to access the emergency release for the automatic gear shift lever just to get the DEAD CRV shifted into neutral, so it could be pushed out of the garage.

It goes into the shop tomorrow for an oil change and battery replacement under warranty. I'll have to jump the damn thing again.......major PITA.

So, don't let your battery die. If it does, know how to unlock the gear shift so you can find neutral to push it for access.

if fob was close to vehicle and vehicle has the automatic unlock when it senses fob then it will drain the battery. on the tacoma's there's a way to temporarily turn off this feature so it doesn't drain battery. idk if this was the issue with the cr-v but worth looking into me thinks.

I thought it was acknowledged, with any vehicle, it needs to be ran for awhile or vehicle battery placed with a trickle charger if it'll sit for long period of time?

I’ve let my battery die multiple times. I jump it and go on my merry way. (My factory battery is 5 years old so I should probably get a new one)
