Yea dont use a 12 volt for this you will hate it. My 20v broke of course the day before install so i drilled out holes with a crappy black n decker corded and used my 12v for the step bit. It would be a bigger PITA if you used just a 12v the whole time.

Anyone have their left over drill bits they want to donate or have recommendations which to use? Completely over looked this part back in November when I ordered. All help is appreciated.

The long and skinny step bit from Milwaukee is awesome if you already have the rivets out and you just need to make the hole larger. If you’re going to try and drill out the rivet completely, I like whatever bits that archive offers. Sharp and short.

I got a short 1/2” and a 1/4” machine bits from Tacoma Screw and used Rapid Tap cutting oil and about medium speed. I had zero issues and it went pretty quickly.

Eric, this is the same stuff that Energy Suspension provides in those little ketchup packets. Pricey for a tube of grease but you know it’s well worth it.

I have a square tube crossbar right above the axle that I have my straps on. Was kind of a pita and had to have my exhaust dump in front of the axle because of strap interference. If I were to do it over again, I would do it like I shared above. Much simpler.

since this post, I cut off the top mounts and repositioned them directly over the lower mounts.

Here's a shot of how I went. Simple easy and effective. It might be the first 2019 that's strapped!

Laid the whole weight of the truck down on a rock unexpectedly. Worth every penny in that one moment!
