    Thanks for posting this.

I bought a set of 4 of these wheels back in 2019 from Village Toyota when Toyota TRD had them on sale for cheap. I finally wore out the 16" tires I had installed and decided to order a 5th TRD wheel to put on the spare. Ordered 1/21/21 and received 1/22/22 from Olathe. Although I wanted to try Cooper ST Maxx I decided I should try a set of "Tacoma standard" KO2's for future reference*. Installed by Discount Tire on 1/22. Truck drives nice.

Now I'm wondering if I actually have an installable spare..... maybe they put the Olathe wheel on the spare and when I need it I'll find out I have your problem. Sounds like I'm going to have to check it to avoid a nasty surprise. I'll be waiting for a slightly warmer day.

    * Already confirmed the first piece of "common knowledge" re: K02s. Spun the tires under mild acceleration on slight, wet grade. I WAS told. ;)

Olathe has been one of the most popular places to buy TRD wheels. I’m sure they’ve sold thousands. I think these two incidents were very recent. So unless you just bought your wheel, I have no reason to believe it’s out of spec.

Toyota has used the same bolt pattern and hub bore for 50+ years, and 2021 is still the same.

    Sounds very odd.

haha! Sorry. I started reading your post while I was getting in my truck and the rest when I got home. I clearly didn’t comprehend what you said very well...

Yeah I’d probably give it a test fit.

One label should be good for all four tires. You can print multiple copies or have it taken care of where you drop them off (UPS store etc). I often bring a return label in for items that encompass multiple packages and they just print out a separate ticket for each item that links to the one label

This should be pretty simple to sort out. Just measure the hub and the center hole of the wheel and post up the numbers. That would easily answer where the problem is. You can pick up a caliper at Harbor Freight for under 10 minutes and if you haven't used one it takes 5 minutes on youtube.

So I talked to someone on the phone today at Olathe (before it had been the discount tire guy talking to them). He said that it happened on one other tacoma since they've been selling them - didn't make it sound like it was recent. I guess I will see what happens with the new set they're sending. Hope something isn't out of whack with the truck. Olathe has also been super helpful and friendly btw. Would definitely buy from them again.

Discount seems very competent and I trust when they say it's odd. The store manager is a 3rd gen owner himself and he says they've installed this wheel on many Tacos. That said, if they have issues again. I am going to bring them to the dealership and see what they say.

Unknown man. Unfortunately. Oltahe took them back but they were hesitant to send another set from their current batch, as they did not know how widespread the problem was. They were working with Toyota. Historically there have been no issues with that wheel, but who knows where the set on Amazon came from and when they were produced. I took a refund at this time. I went ahead and placed another order for a set of the same OEM TRD wheels in Matte Bronze from another dealer. My hope is that another dealer's batch and another color wont have the same problem. They are out for delivery today, so we will see. I actually wanted matte bronze to begin with, but was too chicken to order. I took this as a sign or go ahead. I will let you know tomorrow if there are still issues....

Same thing happened to my friend on his 2020 4RUNNER. Discount Tire had slightly sand out the bore of the wheel to get them to fit. Powder coat too thick maybe?

My Discount did not want to touch that (on the first set I had) and even said the amount they'd have to remove was more than you could easily do while maintaining maintaining an even size of the inner bore.

The TRD Pro 4Runner wheels are not coated inside the bore (the part that mates to the hub). Both sets of mine have been bare, polished, aluminum.

Sometimes that because they get returned with the reason being "damaged". We go to inspect them and can find no damage so we might assume the first client is being picky and put them on the shelf. Its rare, but it can happen especially if we happen to be busy. Our clients arent always very helpful in relaying the details to us.

They looked pristine. Boxes were white, clean, and not all ripped up/retaped. Each wheel was shrink wrapped and had a shower cap looking (lol) protector on it. Boxes all screamed factory packaged and not repacked.

The shipping thing was worked out in later posts. They forgot to generate the rest of the labels.
