    4 inch lift kit
Hi I was looking for some advise on what to do about a rough ride on my truck. I put a 4 inch spacer lift kit for front and rear with no other modifications to the suspension and it rides absolutely horrible now, especially the rear with spacer blocks. What should I do first to make the ride quality better that is budget friendly and effective mainly for the rear suspension because it’s that bad.

Spacer blocks alone alter the suspension geometry. The bigger the spacers the more dramatic.

Please don’t complain when you alter a well designed suspension and things don’t go as planned.

Return it to stock sell the spacer lift and save for the best budget option; 5100's with OME coils and a progressive Add A Leaf.

That said any lift is going to change how your truck rides and unless you go big money it's going to be a little harsher.

Also 4" is a LOT of lift, especially for a block/spacer.

You would need a drop bracket, 4WD delete if you had it, spindles, and upper control arms just for a start to run 4" of lift.

I’m aware that the spacers alter the way it’s supposed to work and such, I’m just asking if there’s anything that can be done to make the ride better with the spacers on

Unfortunately when you do a 4 inch spacer, you are putting a pretty large preload onto the suspension system while changing the geometry of the vehicle. If you get upper control arms, they will slightly
help you with your situation. It would be best replacing that much of a spacer.

yeah just get rid of that spacer lift and save for a better set up, thats about all you can do to make it better. HOWEVER, I've been doing some research into springs and I am now wondering how your ride quality could change if you were to swap your CO springs for some really light springs. I don't know what your current springs are rated at but switching them to a lower spring rate would most likely result in a softer ride. NOT saying this is recommended and I know there will be other consequences, I'm just saying as far as softening the ride, that should work.

Here, I used a search function (4" Lift) for you and scanned the results for a minute to find a first gen 4" lift question: 4” lift | Tacoma World

The short version is that 4" lifts require drop brackets. From another result on that search:
So I'm guessing that horrible ride you are feeling is the lack of down travel and various parts of your drivetrain being very unhappy. The cheapest and easiest fix is to pick a smaller number and go for something other than spacers. When everyone says 'spacers ride like shit' they might be onto something. Is there a reason you need a 4" lift?

    Finally I saw this:

Just get rid of the blocks and get a proper lift kit when you have enough money. There's nothing really you can do to change ride quality if you use spacer blocks, especially 4" inches(that's what she said lol). Best of luck man.
