First post ever, yippee! Not my first tacoma though.

Just bought a 2012 and the dumb-dumb previous owner hacked off the stock muffler and welded in (rather poorly) a garbage mild steel resonator. It's half way between sounding like there's hole in the muffler and sounding like a plastic bag is taped on the tailpipe. The noise in the cab is bearable at no load, but awful at mild throttle or more.

Since the OEM exhaust for this generation is highly unlikely to be found used, can anyone recommend a nice 304SS system that has very little to no cabin noise? I'm passed the days of wanting to make my presence known, unless I'm on a motorcycle. These days I want to go point A to B in peace and quiet.

I've been looking at the Gibson system but thought I'd ask for real world reviews of in-the-cab noise levels.
I live in Iowa, so it has to be 304 stainless or I'll be replacing it every few years.

    Annnnddd....GO!
    Thanks all!

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
I have the TRD Performance Exhaust system on my '06 TRD OR AC. 14+ years and the only issue experienced was the loss of the cat's lower heat shield and a problem gasket at the right side exhaust manifold. It is louder than the 'stock' system, but does not sound obnoxious nor is the freeway sound an annoying drone.
Since it has been so durable on my '06 it was mandatory (in my mind) that my '21 TRD OR AC be equipped with it as well.
Given the New England environment, I'm very satisfied with this system.
