Good question. I suppose my question wasnt a fair one either.

I suppose like any it depends on the extent of the damage.

I had a buddy with a 2wd 2013 tacoma with 80k that was rear ended and still drove....the frame was pushed up in the back and the bumper needed to be removed and bed replaced since it was all deformed. The insurance buy back was 4k and I was going to pay it until the majority of the truck was stolen at the body shop by asses.... so I had to pass

I guess in the case of your truck I would have paid a little more maybe 6. although the same truck with a clear title I would have paid 12 ish..

Just curious what to expect from a salvage sale If I can ever find another.

Yeah, a 2wd with heavy frame damage might be worth 4K...

Trucks like this are selling around here for 20K. Any Taco that can be fixed with minimal effort and a 5K cushion or more is worth buying and doing the repair imo... Of course you always take the chance of finding damage that you don't know about and adjust accordingly. I play poker, so I am comfortable with taking financial risks. The meek need not apply...

Ok awesome thanks. Id like to point out that I specifically stated that I was gathering info due to self proclaimed ignorance of the situation and if I diddnt know any better I might think that I hit a nerve and now I am Meek hahaha.....

Take it easy man, nobody is out to get you for finding a great deal on a reliable truck.

It seems both of us have misinterpreted each other.

Either way. congrats on your find. I hope to find some of those deals soon as well.

Cheers and good fortune to you.

Just for information. Someone a few posts back said they didn't insure their salvage title vehicles for Collision. My ins. co. "will not" write collision on a vehicle with a salvage title.

That's interesting. They will here in Utah but my own insurance company says they will only pay out half of what clear title insurance pays.

Is it a state thing? Or is it left up to insurance companies?

I suspect just like typical insurance decisions they are looking for a way to deny pay outs before they even happen as much as possible.
