Which route would you go with?

I get it and that is not an option for me. I already bought the Swinggate. It's a better fit for my needs and build. I'm just asking what someone would do in my shoes if they did the same, option 1 or 2.

 

Not an option? Re route it in front of the rear wheel and problem is solved.

 

Cool. Good to know. Not the route I'm taking or what my post is about. I already bought the hitch mounted spare tire carrier.

 

I don't like the idea of a swingout because it makes it hard to use the tailgate especially when hauling something that doesn't fit with the tailgate up. I don't like the stock location because it reduces clearance and is a pain to get to especially in certain off-road situations. I toss mine in the bed. When I need extra room, I take it out or ratchet strap it to the front of the bed standing up. I travel light when I go adventuring, so it hasn't been a big deal. In a pinch, I could put it in the stock location. I do a 5-tire rotation with 5 of the same tires and wheels. I don't care about the TPMS. My warning light is not even on, because the system is wireless and is able to pickup the spare in the bed. I carry a good pressure gauge and 12v air compressor with me.
