I would second this, were it not for the fact I fear that once you've beaten them to death with it, you might end up looking like the bad guy..

Very easy to install an ignition kill switch. If the vehicle won't start immediately, very few thieves will take the time to search for a well-hidden kill switch.
    One wire.

The issue is if they want your truck they'll drag it onto a flatbed in two minutes.

Sounds like a good idea to learn how to disable my remote. I don’t know how to do it. As for my ‘21, Toyota has an app that has remote services for my truck that tells me its last parked location, etc. I just don’t want to be violated this way.

The weak spot of a GPS tracker is that the built-in (rechargeable) battery only lasts about a week before needing to be recharged. Then you lose the signal unless you recharge (which of course would be impossible if the truck was stolen). The solution is to use an available kit to hard-wire the tracker to the truck. But then it would be harder to hide the tracker from the thief. I'm sure smart thieves are on the lookout for trackers.

I'm sure you could hardwire it under the console. I've looked into them, they definately are worth it for a high value vehicle, i.e. if you have a ton of mods and hours into your truck.

If it's stock, I'd just do the insurance claim. Because you don't want your truck back after this.......

Most simple diagram I could find. Toggle switches are a dime dozen at any auto parts place like auto zone, Napa, etc. Usually about 5-10 bucks American.
EDIT - same concept with push button start

I was going to say, after twenty three years in law enforcement, I’ve seen how car thieves treat the vehicles they steal. If they get mine, they can have it. I don’t want it back. I’ll deal with my insurance company and start over.

I worry about my truck being stolen as much as i worry about the chance a bus will hit me when I'm walking down the street. So never.
Would it suck, sure. But that's why I have insurance. At the end of the day, it's just a thing that can be replaced.

Thank you! So I’d tap that into the ignition wire?

This is good but not the high volume. They usually spoof the signal from dealership lots and then steal them later.

I put a magnet on the back of one of these driveway alerts and stick it on my truck when I park it at night on the street. It also works in the truck and sets off the alarm unit in my bedroom 100 feet away. Be sure to keep it above hip level so cats wont set it off, and only get the Bunker Hill brand if you can, there are copies that don’t work well out there. It’s available at Harbor Freight:

Bunker Hill Security System Item 62447 and Amazon for a higher price:

Toyota internally knows of this problem and seems to be located more in eastern provinces. vehicles are being loaded into containers and shipped overseas. straight gone in 60 seconds shit!

Trackmategps (https://trackmategps.com/profile/OurProducts) has trackers that can be hardwired and have internal battery backup. Can also buy their units on Amazon. They're small and can be put anywhere. I have one on my other vehicle. Current draw is 60mA. You can also check battery voltage remotely (useful if you're parking a vehicle for a long time), setup GPS fences, get text alerts, etc. And yes this is a last ditch effort after theft prevention has failed.
