That’s the one! Barrett Jackson seems like a much better market for it. It kept getting re-listed on eBay with a $150k starting bid if I remember correctly... surprise no one ever bid!

    lame right???

Seriously, 37" tires for the mall? What if you happen to be driving around one and come upon a big speed bump?

I wouldn't feel safe with anything less than 44" tires for some of the malls around here.

I have a build thread that’s buried here somewhere. Gave up on it after it a while. Now I just use for groceries and road trips.

Yeah. 4.88, OVtune (with gear lock - this is the key), and an auto obviously.

5.13’s weren’t available when I built it otherwise I would have gone with those.

Did you regear after the 37s got put on? I’m just trying to get an idea of what kind of highway mpgs I’d be getting, because I would not regear right away

    I ran 33’s stock gearing. 35’s stock gearing, 35’s with 4.88’s, and 37’s with 4.88’s.

The 37’s with 4.88’s feels about like the 33’s did with stock. Slightly more sluggish though.

Gas mileage was about the same with 35’s and 37’s. If there was a difference it might have been 1-2mpg something I could probably change just by driving. So to me basically the same.

With that said I get about 12mpg with the 37’s.

Edit: 37’s and stock gearing is going to suck. That’s going to drive pretty bad. I’d suggest gearing first then tires.

as long as I get 12+ mpg on the highway with stock gears then I’d be happy for the time being. I would really want to take as long as possible to regear but still have the looks of 37s (for money reasons). With my stock truck I get significantly higher around town than I do on the highway, which I found quite interesting. But anyways would you say I’d get 12+ on the highway stock gears? Or is it too vague of details to make an estimate.

I feel like stock gears you aren’t going to get 12+. No way.

Another thing to keep in mind with tires of this size. With stock you can be pretty consistent. Slight hills, headwinds, etc won’t impact your mpg too bad.

With mine if I am going up a hill or headwind for very long it’ll drop under 10. I’ve seen stretches of perfectly smooth highway but with a headwind drop to 8 on the display (actually would be slightly more).

So with 37’s and stock gearing I bet you have trouble even maintaining 65-70 without cruising at 4500+ rpm.

Lastly...and this is important. If you have a Tacoma and modify it with lift, armor, racks, big ass tires you shouldn’t really be contemplating gas mileage. Just accept it’s going to be bad and mod away.

I used to live about 15-20 miles away from work. Mostly stop and go the entire time. I would spend close to 350 bucks a month on just gas. Driving across country I’m stopping at basically every gas station I see. So keep that in mind.
