Displaced from OH, New SR and new to an fourm

Greetings all,

Its been about 5 years now and I am starting to feel like I am kinda starting to fit into some of SOCAL. Wife and I have loved exploring this beautiful state and seeing many firsts: desert, mountains, sailing, BLM, REDWOODS and more. I had a stock Tundra TRD Off Road we used to pull a Cargo Conversion I converted pretty nicely. I think we went about as far as we could with that set up. I want to go deeper and tougher, so it was sold.

Just last week I finally made the purchase on a hard for me to get SR Access cab. Its a V6 and of course 4x4. I bought the SR specifically because the 2021s have all the tech I want or need. I plan to upgrade most anything the Off Road package would have had anyway, so higher level would have been wasted for me.

I plan for this to be a "dualsport" truck. Daily driver but capable for camping, exploring and light wheeling. Like a lot of people on here! 6112/5150s, 285/75 17s, 5.29s, Undecided on lockers, fab some sliders and armor is the basic plan. Only mod so far is an ARE DCU shell. Will be using this forum to get ideas and advice.

This is my first post, first forum, first anything related to online presence. Sorry, I am sure I will screw up something. Especially if I end up trying to post a pic or something.

welcome from a guy still in OH, who also got the SR5 - but double long bed - for the same reason...looking to turn it into a camping "headquarters" here in the future.

One does! We did a "bucket list" trip for me last fall. Drove his 1st gen to the Rubicon, ran it two day, and then back home. Was so very awesome. The bigger boy is Army Infantry now. No wheeling for him for a bit... He does have a 3rd gen T4R though.

 

That's great. My girls are young but already have taken them on a few trails. What a blast!

And here are two on the way home from getting the truck. Flew to Grants Pass, OR from SOCAL. Drove it home. Took the PCH some and even got it into low range on the first full day of ownership. Crawled down and up a big river bank to take a break by this river. I think it was in Oregon, but maybe NORCAL. Off to a good start with this truck I think.

 

Meats

The Tundra is gone... Tacoma took its place. Hoping to be able to get to more remote places with it. In theory...
