Until the next energy shortage. Imagine a power outage that wiped a decade's worth of memory from your life. It would be like the 70s but without the drugs.

We could go nuclear powered and you could explore the Moon and Mars without a spacesuit. You could even live long enough to make it to a neighboring system. No need for food or life support. I think I'm starting to see Elon's master plan...

    O
ne of the best series I have ever read (heard on audiobook). Absolutely unique, and alternately exciting and funny. Real good, hard sci-fi.

Sorry, can't do that. The problem with AI is that most of it is just image and pattern recognition. We're still a long ways from critical thinking or actual sentience. So we're going to need your brain in a robot to handle what the AI can't on the Mars robot slave colony. Just don't be one of the first volunteers. They may end up being the equivalent of a lobotomized house cat.

I agree that would be, "we missed having a bad day", but even worse would be that color imagine from the decent stage after failing to cut the cables connecting it to the descent stage, showing the Skycrane flying off to make its own uncontrolled landing on the surface, a safe distance away from Perseverance, but to our horror, Perseverance is being held captive.

I entered "rent 3d printer near me" into Goggle search and was surprised how many places around me rent 3d printers.
This was under that search result too:
How much does it cost to rent a 3D printer?
For $50-$150/week you can bring a printer into your home. Build the parts you need for your project, try out a specific printer before buying, or just find out what 3d printing is all about.

    Taking that one step further:

    https://www.fusion3design.com/how-much-does-a-3d-printer-cost/

Depending on your 3D printing desires, renting could be a substantial percentage of buying outright.

After watching a few YouTube videos on 3d printers, I would also add to your comment that 3d printing has a learning curve that doesn't make renting really practical either, so having an experienced friend with one would be nice.

Some of those NASA models are cool and can see my bookcases being filled with them.

That is cost heavy. In two weeks rental you could own one.

My latest. I bought it for less last black Friday.

I downloaded a few of the NASA 3D files. The ones I tried (shuttle, ISS and Saturn 5) were not in STL format. they are in MAC OS 3DS format.

I used anyconv.com to convert them and the Saturn 5 was way too small / low res to be useful. The shuttle was too complex and large but also unusable.

Their selection of 3D printable STL files is more limited. bummer.

Really it just depends how bad the red really is. Red was bad for landing, but might not be that bad for travel. They've said they're more concerned about sand than traveling over rocks. We'll probably see how bad the red areas are when we get that sweet high def landing footage.
