Is a cab mount chop necessary? any issues in the long run if you don't?

Well damn! I'll pay that all day to get rid of the rubbing.

 

Don’t listen to this fool. Wider stance always looks way better on trucks. Cab mount chops are super common to accommodate more space and alleviate rubbing. Dealers will never see it if you some day want to trade it, and any private buyer would like that it’s been done.

Wheelers off-road sells the plates for a CMC. It's around $30 online if I remember

 

F 4WP!!! You're pretty much screwed for a decent shop around Lynnwood. There is Randy's Off-Road in Smokey Point, which can be hit and miss. You either love him or hate him. You might also talk to Monroe at Michael's Toyota of Bellevue. He was in their aftermarket install dept. He was running 285/70r/17 without the CMC and said it wasn't necessary, it was all about fitment. I haven't gone to bigger tires yet on the Tacoma. You can contact him @TheToyotaGarage

I run 285/75/17 nitto ridge grapplers on a -12 wheel and just had to do some trimming. Also having the vehicle aligned properly is a huge factor in what will fit. I now have 285/75/17 -38's and had Mule do the BMC for me.
