I made the switch to Toyota after being an owner of GM for years. Decided I wanted to down size and not a fan of mid size GM trucks. I purchased my first Tacoma yesterday which is also my first new vehicle purchase ever! I’m excited to start modifying this and making it my own. Any tips for a first time Tacoma owner? First mods I should perform? Excited to here y’alls input and advice!

Welcome! Also former GM owner here. Developed some trust issues with them after my last truck and our history with them as a family. It was to the point where I would have gone F150 if I went with a full size.

Love my Taco! Not sure what you had in mind but chances are you can find it here.

Must have been pretty bad if you were thinking about a F150!

Oh, yes. Grew up a GM guy. I'd had enough to the point where my research led me to the F150 and eventually to Toyota! Never owned anything outside the Big 3 all my life.

    Welcome to TW!

Rubber floor mats to catch mud, snow, etc and keep it off the carpet.

Bed mat, which I haven't done myself, is supposed to do a good job of keeping things from sliding around.

Steps and/or tonneau cover if you need them.

That should get you started. :)

Welcome! +1 on the rubber floor mats. Just got my Tacoma TRD OR last week and mats are on order from WeatherTech. I had them in my 4Runner and loved them.

Other than rudimentary things like floormats, paint detailing, fluid checking, tire pressure checking (yes, dealers don't all get it right)

    1) Read the owners manual. Mark pages you recognize you may need to return to.

    2) Drive the vehicle as is. Mods for how you use it are what matter. So when you find a shortcoming, then deal with that. Folks here will be able to help.

This is funny. I was a Jeep guy. Had a RAM but it was such a sucker, I gave it up. I tried so hard to want an F150. Never happened. Went Tacoma. Enjoyed it thus far.

New tires and you are good to go if you plan on going offroad.

I went with the automatic. Couldn’t find any manuals with the options I wanted in my area or within a couple hundred miles.

I have been looking at the falken wild peaks. Will probably run stockers until next winter though. Had the ridge grapplers on my GM but feel like they wore rather quick.

Some guys have had luck with the stock tires while others have had 3 flats on a trip
    Enjoy the new truck!
