So in August, I'll be going Moab, Utah with a bunch of other paramotor pilots. I'll be towing the camper out there and staying at the KOA for a week. We're going to try to get as much flying in the area as we can, weather permitting. Given the best flying is dawn for the first couple hours of the day, and the last couple hours up to sunset, there will be lots of time in the middle to do other things.

Truck is a stock 4x4 SR5, so I'd be interested in easy trails and scenery within a reasonable distance of Moab. I do not want to bite off more than my truck can chew, so easy and conservative... I'm not looking for tricky technical 'wheelin'! I'll leave that for the built up trucks!

    Any suggestions?

Onion springs is a fun stock friendly trail. Lots of shallow water crossings.

Ha, I just noticed there's a whole subforum for Moab! LOL

I'll have to read a bit over there. I'm really looking forward to the trip... sucks that it's 6 months away!

Found this to be pretty useful when we were there in 17.

Yeah, read through that. It's a good sub-forum. TONS of info there.

The cool thing about a lot of the slickrock trails is that there are usually some go arounds for most of the harder obstacles. Fins N Things, Top of the World, etc... are all ones that are on my list.

Do any of the local or government agencies (Visitor's Center, Parks Dept.) have any decent free literature?

I highly recommend picking up that book. It will make your trip really enjoyable without stressing about if a trail will become more difficult than you’d like.

I’ve been to Moab twice in July/August. Found it too hot to have much fun on any trail that required stopping and getting out, whether to spot obstacles or just check out views. As for recommendations, it’s really a road, not a trail, but the Shafer Trail from Island in the Sky back to town is beautiful and you can leave the windows up and AC on :)
