Anyone else have this experience with JBA uppers? Haven’t had them on but a couple hundred miles and the boot is already cracking. Only on drivers side. Haven’t even taken the truck off road since I installed them so no major flexing. What should I do?

It’s a known issue. Last I heard from JBA they were going to have new pleated poly boots coming mid to late February. I’m going to follow up first of March.

Contacted them about the boots failing on mine 1st of February. They sent me a replacement set for now. Put me on the list for the new updated boots. Said production should start by the end of February.

Oh..glad I stumbled across this. I just installed some and am having them RMA'd due to blemished powder coating. I'm going to hit them up and let them know I'm ok with waiting until the new boots available for them to ship the replacement UCA's if they haven't already. I noticed the blem during install and was already balls deep and couldn't pull out.

Mine were probably only on the truck 3 months. All highway driving. Crazy that they got that bad that fast. JBA says they should have the 1st shipment of replacements in house in a week or so.

    It’s a boot around a joint, correct?
The angle of the JBA UCA appears from the photo to be the same of the OEM UCA. Camburg, Total Chaos and ICON have a flatter angle to account for lift amounts, allowing for more droop/ stuff all while being able to align the front for street driving.

jbas have a 90 degree total movement. I think 40 degrees down and 50 degrees up. I don’t think any other upper out there has that much movement. That’s the only reason I bought them. Hopefully they send me my new boots soon.

Folks, I'm glad I stumbled on this thread a few days ago. Tonight on my way home from work, parked in the grocery store parking lot, I decided to give my boots a quick check. The entire brand new arms were installed just a couple weeks ago, on 2/9, so all brand new essentially; maybe 300-400 easy street miles on the whole thing. And shit the bed, mine are cracking, both sides. I emailed JBA just a bit ago. Very detailed, pics included. I'm a happy customer, albeit bummed I got deal with this now, but certainly not pissed or anything. I'm sure they'll make it right as they have with the rest of you.

I admit, although I recently (and successfully) tackled my Deaver leaf spring install by myself, I had these JBAs installed by a shop along with new tires, extended brake lines, alignment, etc. I just wanted to have a shop do it. This time I'd like to replace these boots myself. I have a torque wrench that will hit the required spec and jack stands, etc. There's no way an alignment is needed after replacing these, right? What exactly needs to be disconnected in order to replace these boot? Just the upper four nuts, and separate the upper arm from the steering knuckle, correct? When the JBA ball joint adapter was pressed into the factory steering knuckle and secured with the C-clip, that's in and done, correct? I hope my question makes sense. Dinner is in the oven and I've had a few beverages. Pics to follow:

*I have gingerly hit the ball joints the Lucas red-n-tacky juuuust until I started to see the boot swell a tad. That was a day after install, and I periodically checked the boots in the following few days to make sure I didn't overdue it and cause a rupture. I didn't. Bushings are happy.

TL;DR what the heck am I in for?

Replacement of these boots should be very simple. Has anyone heard from JBA a more precise ETA on when the new poly boots may ship out to those of us waiting for them?

your snap ring doesn’t look closed all the way. The gap shouldn’t be that big.
