    Hello Tacoma drivers. I’m new here but need help. I got my grandpas 2005 Tacoma when he passed last year, and I just took it in to get serviced. There was the recall on it for the accelerator and floor mats. They did the recall and told me to come back today to get the new floormats. My original all weather floormats were removed from the vehicle, and I was not given them. After getting home and installing the new stock ones I noticed how they hardly covered the floorboards compared to the old ones. I called my local Toyota and asked if I could get my old ones back and they said they had to send them back. I was told they had to send them back because they did the modification on the accelerator pedal which looks like a 5 year old took a reciprocating saw to it. It doesn’t make sense chopping the pedal t fix the problem and replacing the floor mats. If you other wonderful Tacoma owners out there can give me some insight on who I should contact that would be great. Thank you all in advance, I’m glad to be a Tacoma owner.

    I’d contact WeatherTech and get some of their Floor-Liners.
    They are much better than the OE mats. I’ve had mine almost 15 years now.
    Take them out and pour the water out of them. I wouldn’t know what to do with out them.

    I know this doesn’t answer who you need to contact at Toyota.
    But I do believe you’d be better off, and probably much happier.

    Welcome to TW! :hattip::wave:

    I second the WeatherTech idea; I've got them in my truck for over five years now and I love them!

    Also, I remember when they did the unintended acceleration recall on my truck like ten years ago; I was pissed when I got my truck back and saw that hackjob!

    Harden your bark, there are storms on the horizon.
    I resisted the pedal chop for years. Finally it was done without my knowing and against my will. The whole stuck accelorator thing was a scam as far as the Tacoma goes.

    Exactly what they did with my truck, though in my case they called my house when nobody was home and left a message on the answering machine; Even though nobody ever called back, they went and hacked up my gas pedal anyway!

    I got over it eventually. Mats were never a problem as I pulled them day one and put in husky liners.

    I have WeatherTech mats in my 05, they're great. There is also a recall to have the rear leaf springs replaced. If they didn't have the springs in stock, or didn't want to do the job, they may not have told you.
