Hey, I'm looking to install a roof top tent on my ARE topper and I was wondering if anybody had a good recommendation for a rack system that will accommodate the weight. Thanks!

Im gonna buy the sherpa load bar system
Cheaper than yakima bars and towers

i dont want to blow money on something like a prinsu rack, but if you want a full rack i’d look at victory 4x4’s topper rack

    and welcome to TW!

That is exactly what I was looking for. What track do you plan on running? I'm trying to keep the cost down as well.

Ahh i guess you have a “naked” topper as well?

It looks like I’m gonna have to bite the bullet and pay for yakima tracks. I’ve only seen yakima and thule making tracks

I've noticed the same thing. With the load bars and track it's looking around $450. Better that $700+ on the prinsu...

    Stock for now.. maybe
You can look on Craigslist or the book of faces for Yakima and Thule stuff. I got brand new towers for half the price. They are expensive new.

Also the tracks are interchangeable withe the towers. Ie... Yakima towers will go on Thule tracks and vise versa

I was going to grab a thule tepui explorer kukenam 3, but I ran into a dude at rei and he had a smittybuilt gen 2 and it was around $600 cheaper and seems pretty legit. Still kind of torn, but it seems like a no brainer with the money I'll save and it has a 2 year warranty. You?

I run a Thule track/rack setup on my shell. Not as low profile as the prinsu or similar but I was able to proform for a fraction of the price and I picked up a 3rd bar and a pair towers to run another bar across the cab for when I pick up lumber or other long items that don't fit in the bed.

Good looking truck man. Did you go with the 42" or 54" track length? Have a 5' bed and the 54" look to be cutting it a little close.

Thanks. I have the short bed too and went with the 54" tracks. I cut them down to 44" with the plan to use the sections I cut inside the shell to mount things inside the shell (cargo net and fire extinguisher for example).

Nice. I'm thinking about ordering the superlite and selling our iKamper x-cover in the fall. Curious what you think of the GFC.

I got rhino tracks installed on mine. I like them and use the same towers and whatnot from Yakima and Thule. They were a little cheaper and salesperson said they mount a bit stronger. Not sure if that’s true or not.
