For the price I am happy ($50) takes exactly 4mins airing up from 15psi to 35psi (Per tire). It does a little. They have a smaller one and that will be a tight fit. I use a rag to keep it secure for now. Been lazy to get the smaller one. Lol. Good idea doing snorkel first then compressor.

 

Yeah the time I did use it, it seemed like it was a little workhorse. I might used some rubber adhesive on the metal brackets or something to hopefully sandwich it in.

Any tips for the snorkel install? I'm hoping I can install it as cleanly as you did. Is there a big gap between the snorkel and the fender?

I appreciate all the insight, by the way. It's always nice to see someone has already done something you have in mind for the future.

 

Yea I had that compressor since 2013 and still works good. No gap. The snorkel is nice and tug. Just keep measuring it. I didn't have a template and I just eyeballed it and got it perfect. Lol

What is the ABS kill switch for?

 

For when I'm on loose gravel like snow, dirt.

Edit: I stop faster when the abs is off. When it's on, the abs does the braking and that can be sketch sometimes; especially if you're off-roading.

 

New wheeler off-road bump stops. Got front and rear. Going to weld rear ones soon.

 

Finally got the wheeler super bumps welded.

Upgrading the rear shocks. Sent them to get rebuilt.

 

Back from a fresh rebuild! If anyone local need a shock rebuild, I would hit up BTF in Upland off the 10fwy and central. Great prices and service! They can also pretty much do anything you need for your truck!

Lol, I work on this truck all the time!

It's become quite the hobby. Mostly fun projects, but I also had to do the head gaskets last year. I'm learning a ton and having fun, and hopefully the truck will go another 180k!

The latest: I had to rework the exhaust pipe to accommodate a new water tank installed under the bed:

Plenty of time to learn how to weld thanks to the covid!

I know! Thats the one thing COVID is good for. Why did you install a water tank under the truck? Also how hard is it to move the exhaust? I was thinking about relocating onto the side of the truck.

 

Sorry for not seeing this question for almost a year, but here's the water tank story. I would say that the exhaust was pretty easy compared to the rest of that project. I couldn't figure out how to flare the tubing--even though I bought a mandrel, I couldn't hold the tubing tightly enough to flare it. But it turned out that standard 2.25" or 2.5" (I forgot) exhaust pipe is perfectly sized to slide over whatever metric size Toyota used on these trucks, so I was able to splice the exhaust by using ~2" lengths of standard tube as sleeve couplings and welding both ends. It took me a whole day to do what a shop could do in half an hour, but it wasn't very difficult.

 

@mk5 Nice job, it looks good, definitely an option for people who want an extended gas tank instead of buying one from Australia for $$$.
Always nice to learn a skill like welding as well.
