I tapped into the exact same spot.
This is how I wired up the momentary switch:
    upload_2020-3-9_11-30-20.jpg

I didn't use any existing negative wire, I ran a new one. I actually didn't run the wire to the battery post, I ran it to my new positive terminal.

Yes I was worried about the same thing. Especially where I placed mine...
This morning was dark out and I had the panel on the dimmest setting, with no labels on, and it didn't bug my eyes at all.

I covered the rest of unused buttons with the black spares/electrical tape. Helped a lot

Wrapped the rear bumper with 3M 1080 G120 Gloss White Aluminum.
It took about 3 hours to wrap both sides of the bumper. MUCH respect that do this as a job. It was long and frustrating. There are some imperfections in my install but hard to see from far.
Also repainted all the rusty bumper parts and the hitch.

Next is to dip the badges black and paint the exhaust black.

Finally finished one of my bike racks.
Still need to build one more for the other side.
My tent will fit underneath the handle bars.

(Pictures are prior to rack trimming and the mounts being bed lined)

Got my Elka 2.0s (2-3" lift), SPC UCAs, and UCA bolts for Krave Automotive.

    These things are sexy!
Thanks Krave for the care package!

    So many stickies!

I got the Elka 2.0s and SPC UCAs installed over the weekend. These things are a major upgrade over the 2" block lift!
Looking forward to see how they perform and last through the winter and offroad.
Now I need to get some shock boots to protect them from our stupid winter...

Threw on some new winter tires.
    Nokian Hakkapeliitta LT3s Studded.
    285/75/R16

I also painted my stock rims.

From the short drive home, these things are grippy! It honestly felt like I was driving on dry pavement... and there's a sheet of ice with 3" of snow/slush on top... lol

Installed some Timbren active off-road bump stops.
As you can see the drivers side stock bump stop broke off.
The back end of the truck is looking nasty with the fluid film full of road grime.

Looking forward to smooth hits instead of the backbreaking bottom outs!

My @CaliRaisedLed light bar was flickering on and off on it's own...
I think I found the problem. The relay seemed to have got water in it. The 30A in-line fuse did not blow but it sure melted. Glad I caught this in the act or the truck might have melted away...

So I snipped the relay off and wired it to my switch board and put in a 30A fuse.

    Fuse is not blown.

    Tacoma Lights 3.jpg

    Relay was the problem?
    Tacoma Lights 4.jpg

Wire now run to the "20A" placeholder on the left but put a 30A fuse in place.
I don't like how these switch boards pre-labeled all the fuses. They are all wired the same so the size of fuse doesn't matter.

Installed some budget friendly ditch lights.
The brackets are not the best as they wobble way too much. Soon to be placed.
The lights are wired with waterproof quick connects and wired to my switch board on separate buttons. That way I can turn them on and off individually.

    Ditch Lights
    Brackets
Next brackets will be much stronger

I have since cleaned my engine bay... lol

While looking over my truck I noticed my drive side axel boot was torn.
    So new axel it is!
Also changed my front dif oil at the same time.
