Off Road Tire Jack

Hey there!

Anyone have recommendations for tire jacks off road? I know a lot of jacks on the market are very heavy and not the best for storage.


Looking for something light weight, easy to store, etc. Not sure a Hi-Lift Jack is what I am looking for as I don't have a lot of points to hitch it up on and I am alone a lot of the time.

Had a Harbor Freight gift card so I picked up a 1.5 ton floor jack. Got a Pro Eagle lift pad and extension.

Pro Eagle is the best, https://www.proeagle.com, they offer mounting solutions as well. They are pricey though.

 

Whats wrong with the OEM bottle jack? Works just fine offroad. I keep a 10x10in piece of 3/8in aluminum (too keep bottle jack from sinking in the mud) and a short piece of pressure treated 6x6 (so i dont have to run the bottle jack up as high) when raising the front.

 

In a pinch, sure, they will get the job done but bottle jacks and hi-lifts are terribly unsafe as a first choice. If you have the option to be prepared with a safer option, why wouldn't you? Also, the factory bottle jack has a very limited range of use. So now getting your lifted truck high enough in what could already be a precarious situation is going to get even more precarious because you need to start stacking stuff. No thanks. Like I said, in a pinch sure, if I can avoid it I will.

Needed to use it within the first week unfortunately. Good little rig. Quick to jack the truck up. The height is adjustable and it works as a jack and a jack stand. Stable base and stable jack point.

Works much better than the stock bottle jack.

A little bulky. I'll need to come up with a good mounting solution.

 

I like this option, but yeah storing it securely would be my question. Don’t want it bouncing around in my bed. But definitely an option for me and it’s a good price.

 

I think I'll eventually get a small bin to throw it in with straps, shackles, etc.

 

Only thing that makes bottle jacks and hi lifts unsafe is an educated and untrained user............and alcohol

 

I just have a tub with my jack, compressor and straps. Generic bottle jack and some wood.

 

Yup. All in the storage bins. Well except the block of wood. That just gets tossed in the bed

 

It's come with me from a jeep to a few toyotas and a nissan haha

Oh and of course a roll of toilet paper, if you have it, you won't need it.

 

And never forget to smash the roll of toilet paper flat. You dont want it rolling away down hill at the wrong time.....its shitty

 

I keep a pair of rubber jack pads for uneven terrain and also to stabilize the jack since bottle jacks don't have a large foot print. They're roughly 9'x9" about 1' thick. It also gives you the added benefit of a few extra inches of height. An inexpensive solution for me.

 

9'x9"? massive! lol. just kidding. You cut those out of some kind of gym or barn flooring?
