I hope the connector will be able to connect to mikes harness (2020 led conversion) the same way it would to Tacoma’s with factory 2020 led headlights and there won’t be any issues.

Here's the response I received from @MESO yesterday, "Nope doesn’t change anything technically you could use either harness since you will have the stockDRL plugs as well as the 2020 OEM plugs"

    Hey guys,
Just to give an overall update and some background on the email I sent out....
I know the V5’s have been a long journey. Many factors have contributed to it’s delay. When this project first started a long long time ago I was doing the full design myself(I.e circuit boards, led layout, wiring, optics, plastics, etc). They ended up getting neglected last year as new projects hit my desk and took priority. Then throw COVID in the mix which screwed up some of my supply for components.
Fast forward to mid/late 2020 and I was fortunate enough to hook up with Morimoto to help bring this project to completion. Rebooted the V5 and we ended up throwing all original designs out the window. Testing a bunch of different prototypes and ultimately settling on a final design which I am pretty stoked on. (Both function and output).
So where does it stand now?? As I mentioned this is a collaboration with MESO + MORIMOTO. I am supplying all the plastics, outside lens, etc. as they are my molds...the same as the ultimate turn signals(although there are some slight changes in the mold for the extra wires which most customers won’t even notice).
Then the plastics get shipped to Morimoto where they are producing and assembling all the internal components. There will be TWO VERSIONS available on the V5’s.
    1) WHITE DRL / AMBER TURN
    2) AMBER DRL / AMBER TURN
As much as I wanted the white/amber to be user configurable and switch to amber/amber it just wasn’t possible and required a new specific led board. Not a big deal, just 2 different SKUS to stock.
At this time, the plastics have all been produced and Morimoto is assembling them as we speak.

The reason for the email asking what headlights you have is I am taking these 1 step further and including a full PnP wiring kit for the DRL to work correctly. Whatever headlights you “upgraded” to whether it be OEM 2020 LED(with adapter harness), Morimoto, Alphrex, etc. doesn’t matter. All that matters is is what connector your truck came with since my T harness is going to be plugging into your STOCK DRL CONNECTOR behind the headlight. 16-20 are the typical 4 pin connector, 2020+ OEM LED use a 6 pin connector. Now you are probably asking... what about my puddle pods that are prewired?! Yes.. they will still work and you can wire the V5 to the unused 2 pin plug next to the puddle pod. *HOWEVER* the DRL will turn ON/OFF with the truck IGNITION only. For most people this is fine. But if you want the mirror signals to be controlled with the DRL switch on the steering column(like the headlights) unfortunately this circuit/wiring is not available in the A-pillar...which is where the puddles are tapped off. That will require you to run a new line into the engine bay and use the T harness behind the headlights. Hope this makes sense feel free to ask me any questions :D

Safe to assume the 4 pin T harness will be a little cheaper than the 6 pin for LED only due to connector cost? Or the plan is the same price? And do they stay on with low beams like the grille light DRL T harness? Or DRL only and off with parking lights?

DRL harnesses with be included with all V5 kits. I was just trying to get a ratio of how many halogen vs OEM LED vehicles everyone has as I am starting on the production of said harnesses.
The V5 DRL will mimic the stock headlight DRL. Daylight= full brightness. Then when you turn on headlights/parking the signals will dim just like the headlight DRLS. Essentially we are tapping off the headlight connector in the engine bay for TWO different signals; DRL(bright), HEADLIGHT(dim). Hope this makes sense.

I am sure v5's are not that complicated.. However, I am so so so glad I bought the v4's. Makes such a huge difference to the look of the trucks.
Can't wait for the MGM door handles to drop, so that survey discount code can be used!!:bananadance: :spending:

I’m just trying to think ahead. Those of us with halogen harness, LED headlights and bro grille lights might enjoy a single one piece conversion harness from inputs to outputs. I haven’t made one myself yet. This might be a good chance to do so.

Honestly what I’d really prefer instead of the octopus approach would be something which could mount to a fender and has all the inputs on one side and outputs on the other side. Since we already have all the connectors, the missing piece there is just some sort of plastic to secure them to. Just in case that interests you @MESO :)

What's the planned route to the engine bay? Mine's already pretty crowded, I might actually be out of available seal-able nipples and pass-throughs. I don't like the idea of just poking through the boot and hoping it doesn't leak (but I might do it for some sweet sweet meso v5s).

Probably driver side main grommet? I've gone though it several times and no leaks

So these will not work with SR/SR5 then? At least, not tapped off the factory harness. I see another Puppypunter original in the works :p

Probably not most since they didn't come with mirror turns unless there was an upgrade.

    You got this dude!

Correct. SR/SR5's do not come with mirror signals at all, so V5's won't work regardless. You would have to upgrade to a complete mirror with signals. Then wiring would need to be retrofitted just like the housings.

Sorry to keep bugging you, but it’s me, and that’s just what I do. But one more question if you will? The new harness you are building will require a new run to the mirrors, or will it may come to the A-Pillar and intercept the puddle pod harness replacing the ignition with DRL effectively?

Hey @MESO, as a Puddle Pod owner, I think I'm understanding your explanation. So basically to extract the fully functionality of the new V5 (ie sequentional when signaling a turn), don't even bother plugging it into the pre wire from the puddle pods anymore since you need to tap the DRL in order for the V5 to be in sync.

Next question now is timing of when you think it'll all be ready for release? Summer 2021?

You can still plug to the puddle harness. DRL will run on while the truck is on and will only turn off when the truck is off.

The headlight harness will make it work like the trucks DRL function and turn off when the stalk DRL is in the off position. Also DIM when headlight low beams turned on

Edit: Also think this is a good offering for people who don't have puddle lights. Also, this will require just as much of an install as the puddles with the exception of running to the A pillar but will require engine bay wiring.

And now I’m thinking, maybe it’d just be easier to tap the DRL pin at the in cab TE connector and convert it to power assuming it’s ground switched.

I, too, have minimal desire to run another wire from the engine bay. MT makes that challenging.
