    Will a 3rd Generation cap (2017) fit a 2nd generation 2013 Short bed?
    Thanks, Mike

The bed rails and tailgate are different on the 2nd and 3rd gens. I doubt it will fit as designed.

Don’t think it will fit for reasons recently suggested. But just wondering why you’d put a newer cap on. As I assume they’d be more expensive. Did an offer present itself too good to pass up? Don’t know of the dimensions of 2nd to 3rd gen 5ft beds but you may be able to fab something up.

My understanding is that they may line up okay as far as length and width go, but the heights are different because of the different bed depths. A third gen cap would probably be an inch or so shorter than the roof of the cab on a second generation truck. Would probably look weird and may limit visibility if it does fit at all.

Thanks all. Just can't seem to find 2nd Gen short bed topper. Been searching for a few months.

Don’t give up! I had been looking for weeks and never found one for the right price (or many 2nd Gen toppers in general).

I put out feelers in the Florida and Georgia classifieds here on TW and got a hit within a few hours, had a topper the Next Day. This website is a fantastic resource.

Yup. Took me about a year of looking off and on around here, Facebook, and Craigslist. Finally out of the blue a tw member PMed me when he saw one of my sad posts after I had just missed out on a FS post. Worked out beautifully in the end. Just keep looking and don’t get discouraged
