Is an AAL necessary when installing a lift kit?

    Specs on the lift? Do you want rake? reverse rake? leveled?

    I'm lifting my front end 1.5 inches soon with the fox 2.0 performance shocks coilovers. No rear lift. Its basically an overpriced leveling kit

    Are you talking about the AAL being an overpriced leveling kit?

    nah I'm talking about mine lol. I was quoted ~$2000 for the kit + installation. AAL can be expensive though

    Okay gotcha, so you're not getting an AAL with your lift? I don't plant to keep constant load in my bed. My bed mat is 27lbs and that's it so I guess I was wondering if it would be pointless to get an AAL.

    The eibach kit is basically a leveling kit. instead of using blocks, it uses the coilovers for height. Once the suspension settles, it’ll go from 2 inches in the front to ~1.5 inches in the front. AAL can make the ride rougher as well. My Tacoma sits nearly 2 inches lower in the front so it should level the truck out completely once I get my kit installed. Eibach is also on a 60+ day back order

    I believe if you went with 2" in the front, and nothing in the rear, you may end up with a bro lean, especially when you step on the gas.

    I have a DCLB, which stood kind of leveled on the stock suspensions. Now I have the trd pro Fox with a 3/8" spacer. I gain an exact 2" in the front. I went with a single 1.5" AAL in the rear so that I can regain the factory rake.

    For AAL, you can go the progressive 3L AAL route. Heard it actually improves ride quality.

    Im heard the kit is 2" in front and 1" in the rear so this is level right?

    I just looked at the kit, and it doesn't seem to include anything for the rear that will raise it. It appears to be just front coils and rear shocks.

    The description says, +0-1 for the rear, so i would assume it means that the rear shocks included in the kit can accommodate you staying stock or adding an AAL/Block up to 1".

    Okay, gotcha. This might be a silly question but you think i'd need aftermarket UCAs and do a realignment if I add an AAL?

    With or without an AAL, if you lift the front or do work that changes the geometry of the suspensions, you must do an alignment.

    For 2", a UCA isn't necessary but wouldn't hurt. It helps with alignment.

    On my first lift I ended up with about 1.5" of lift in the front and I had a 1" block in the rear. My rear was about a 1/2" higher than the front.

    If that lift gives 2" and you do nothing in the rear, you'll definitely have a bro lean.


    If you don't ever load your bed to max weight, I would recommend a 3 leaf progressive AAL and take out your overload leaf.
