When I was 16 I worked at a bike shop. It was right around the time Britany Spears was big. The local mcdonalds had a life size cardboard cutout of Britany in the lobby, well one day we hatched a plan to steal it... and we did! For the next 6 months Britany sat in the back seat of my car like a normal passenger.

Nice. I was wondering how they saw it.

From article: The officer pulled the driver over for tinted windows, and after the windows were rolled down, it was apparent that the passenger was not a real life person.

A lot of times stuff like this is a tagalong for other stuff you get pulled over for. For example you won't get pulled over for driving barefoot, but if you're pulled over for speeding and they see it, they'll tag it in.

I have seen people do this out here in Southern CA for a while now, use to see the same lady on the 405 north everyday with her mannequin. I wonder if she ever got caught.

Not the first time I have seen that. Good effort though, it looks pretty realistic.

Another related story. When I was 17 my parents lived in Georgia to take care of my grandpa, they didnt sell their house here in MN, so I lived in it while in school.

One day the neighbor called my parents and said I had a group of people in my car when I pulled into the garage. Turns out he was mistaking the rear seat headrests for peoples heads. The car I had he was very familiar with (1989 BMW 325i) and he didnt know that I had added rear headrests the day before.

You sure about this one? ^
I'm not so sure it's actually illegal to roll barefoot.

I'm guilty of both putting my hand over my license plate and running on the other side of the yellow line on toll road check points on my Harley. I saved a lot of money over the years. :anonymous::bikewheelie:

Also kept my dealer tags on the truck for 6 months. They didn't have a date by listed, it was just the dealer logo

I was taught it was illegal back when I went through drivers ed. but a quick google search tells me thats incorrect and its perfectly legal at least in my state.

Same here, they always said its illegal. I just checked (because I still thought it was) and its perfectly legal to drive barefoot.

    from a MN trooper -
"Answer: Driving a motor vehicle barefoot in Minnesota is legal, although secured footwear is safer. Crashes are sometimes caused by loose sandals or flip flops that interfere with the brake and acceleration pedals."

So barefoot is actually safer than flip flops or sandals.

Someone my wife works with did this for several years (before the current plate system we have) She would roll through red light cameras and toll roads often. It was both clever and stupid at the same time. I guess enough people were doing this there were some local stories about it. The only penalty at the time was a no plate displayed ticket.

Reminds me of an episode of "Curb your Enthusiasm" where Larry picks-up a "working girl" for the sole purpose of using the carpool lane to get to a baseball game......"Don't act like you don't know me!"

I see people all the time, where I live, with "Tag Applied For" plates...when there is no waiting period for a tag. However, they won't give you a tag without POI (proof of insurance) so I'm certain 99% of those people simply can't get a tag because they have no insurance.

I drove barefoot all the time when I lived in Hawaii. I couldn't clutch properly with slippers on.

    https://blogs.findlaw.com/law_and_life/2012/05/illegal-to-drive-barefoot.html

I appear to have been mistaken. I thought it was a NH law when I learned it in driver's ed. Figured it wasn't a nationwide thing. Ah well - point is, other small laws that typically don't warrant (or cannot warrant) a traffic stop in and of themselves get tagged on.
