As mentioned this early in the year but i though i would go ahead and put a thread together for it. I've had this one circled for a while now and think the truck pretty much where i want it to be to make the drive. Soooo whos in? I wanted to put this together so far in advance so everyone could plan. This is a long trip and i know how much time and money goes into it. My thoughts on the trip would be to hit up Moab for 3 days then head on over to telluride Colorado area for 3 days. the other days will be driving. Let me know if you have any suggestions or other date thoughts. Anyone and everyone welcome.

Please answer the survey if interested.

More details to come as we discuss the trip.

Only three days in Moab after driving all the way from Alabama?

Oh... you guys are so going to wish you'd scheduled a week, and if you'd scheduled a week you'd be wishing it was two. But damn, three days is better than nothing.

The later in the season the CO trails will be closed for passing and going on.

    @Brian422

As someone who recently put together a trip for Moab, I'd suggest you click my link in my signature.

I know there are a ton of members on this site that plan much larger get togethers, and much more often, but it'll give you an idea since you're just in the 'beginning' stage.

The get together came together as simply an 'idea' from a few members I normally interact with on the forum; nothing strange about meeting a bunch of random guys on the internet am I right? :anonymous:

What really helped was, each and every person that attended, wanted to contribute to the gathering as much as the next person. Whether it was food, camping supplies, car parts, we were all there to help each other out.

That mentality stayed strong as the get together consisted of only a handful of people.

The smaller the group, the easier everything is to manage.

Not only that, going together on the trails isn't something that turns out to be an all day thing either while you wait for each vehicle to pass an obstacle.

It wasn't until maybe the last 2 months that we really dialed down 'who' was going as others had things come up such as family, an injury, and more.

I hope all the best for you guys, as you will love Moab! We all did, but even more because of the company it was in. We're doing another get together for later this year already.

You may invite 50 folks, but only 4 end up going. Opposite of our rides. Nobody announces that they are coming. Then, on ride day, 15 trucks show up!

At the same time too you don't want to try and commit a lot of people either.

I had maybe a total of 15ish and ended up with 6 trucks going off road; 2 others rode shotgun with the other guys.

On my list of things to do. Even though lots to do in 2WD I’m going to wait till I get 4WD so I can take full advantage. Especially driving that far out I want to make sure I can do anything I want.

My camping set up will be:

Just get a rear locker, you could probably do 85% stuff out there with one. Rocks are sticky

I mean Ideal would be like 4 trucks but such a big trip the more ppl the better. More minds, more hands more friends. In case something goes wrong that far from home.

March they'll be closed too. When we were supposed to go last June into July there was more than likely areas that were going to be closed. You gotta remember a lot of that area is a lot higher up and in some cases has snow or gets snow year round.
