Anybody done this lately? I want to repaint my rear drums black for cosmetics and to sand down some of the rust and corrosion that shows up after 3 years of ownership....appreciate any tips or info.... I have 2000° heat resistant paint for the process

Well I'll give you credit for not painting them red. Just scuff with a scotch brite pad, wipe with MEK and spray

I've done it on other cars in the past, but not my tacoma. Just mask stuff off well you don't want to spray and you should be good to go. Take some before/after pics and post them. I'm sure it will turn out great!

CPS-65 I’m good for some, but I’m not for everyone.

Not a big deal to do, wire brush or a media blast will do it more efficiently. Primer the raw steel or use a paint then can go on without primer. They usually keep looking good for some time. I've done the same thing on other cars. Nothing looks worse than a nice wheel with a rusty drum behind it.

    Remove them.
Then you can inspect, clean and lube the brakes; let's you get at the stuff between the hub and drum too.

The drums get a rust lip where they meet the backing plate that has to be chipped off the whole way around.
Wire brush and Rustoleum Satin Black works fine and holds up. Only need the high heat on the calipers.
