2021 access cab, SX pkg, 4wd, very very RED
Years ago, before the small Toyota pickup truck was noticed by marketing and given a name, I owned two of them in succession...22RE 4 Cyl engine, 2WD, stick, pretty close to bulletproof, very capable. Years went by and I became a Jeep fan...first a Liberty then a 4 door Wrangler. When the JKU motor unexpectedly shall we say became an enormously expensive liability, I decided to truck redux.

So off to the local T dealer and came home with a 4WD....I think it's one up from the base trim, def not a TRD...more in a minute. 6 Cyl., Red, SX package....which I would not have picked myself, but hey that's how the dealers load $$ them...Really the only faults I see with this 'SX' package so far are the cheesy SX decals and the wheel locks...really...purchased in December, in the Northeast..from outward appearances the barrel lock wheel locks are good and rusted already. I mean anything can happen anywhere but in my zip code after decades I have yet to see someone's vehicle up on milk cartons and the wheels swiped.

Back when, with I believe the second 4 cyl truck, and more extensively with the Jeeps, I found myself driving forest roads or BLM roads out in the desert...and loved it. Mostly day trips with a little camping...it seems this is now a 'thing' known as overlanding. I'm looking forward to resuming my off road traveling.

I never truly got into 'rock crawling'....took my Wrangler only once to Rausch Park, on the beginner trail. Given I got rid of it, I'm happy I didn't lose money that would have been invested into lockers, lift, all the rest of that jazz....lost a few bucks on armor installed but oh well. So since I'm not a crawler, I decided to pass on the TRD models...that and of course $$.

Anyway, I am very pleased with El Rojo...hey it was either SCREAMING RED or white. Planning near term for a cap and pair of bed brackets; long term looking at the Scout Yoho camper....looked at the Kimbo as well but $$$... Hauling a camper might lead to airbags, E load rated tires....planning on NOT doing lockers.

    Have a great trucking day!!
