Yeah, I thought of that too, and its A no go for me. It will be already a bit of work putting them up and align with the bolts. That's why I will have bungees also, for easy of use for when I start the trails
I will have to just leave the bolts there.

Those canadian tire bolts with plate might be the solution I was looking to install the quick fists I bought.
Do you guys have any other ideas to secure quick fists on roof bars?
I was thinking to secure all in the plywood on one side, but now I realize it might be better to have the shovel on one side of the truck and the Tracks on the other side.

you might need to stack 2 of those plates together or cut some thicker sheet metal and drill some holes into it as iirc those plates are only about 1/8 thick which might bend when you start torquing down the Ubolt to the roof rack. Well they bent for me so i doubled them up.

yeah figured the other idea wouldn't be better since as i mentioned at the end of that blurb - it'll be a pain in the ass to put the tracks back into the mount and when they're muddy, you'll hate it lol.

    but yeah, remember that

Still think a hitch carrier all set up with your gear might be the ticket.
A hitch carrier that swings out like a door and is tall to the roof.
You mount the boards axe shovel and whatever else. When in the city pull one pin and it all comes off for storage. And you truck is back to stock.
    :)
    Just a.thought.

For the recovery boards, maybe a system like the have for ladder racks on trucks. The front would slide into a channel/tunnel and the back would be a hinged clamp to lock in place. Wouldn't be that hard to fab up.... wish I could put a picture on here of what I have in mind

Ya... it would think you could mount it to a rack permanently and would be quick to get them in and out. Of anyone has dimensions of the boards, I can do a mock up and see if they would work. Just some simple tin wacking

    here we go; https://www.amazon.ca/POWERTEC-7116...ild=1&keywords=PowerTec&qid=1614354185&sr=8-4

was looking for the amazoom version of that clamp. Can always replace the white knob/ with this system or have it off to the side that way you don't need to unscrew it all the way, just enough that it no longer holds the tracks and swing the clamp out of the way.

so we would use the metal strip to hold the Bords on the sides?

I posted those clamps here yesterday , but didnt think of holding them on the sides.
Later I found these clamps that may be a bit better:

I would keep it simple and just use a strap to strap them down. Maybe use a u-bolt so it can be pinned in, and then use a strap to lock them down. I found it a pain to unbolt my boards when I had them. Would just want to strap them now if I decide to keep them.

So one side with those clamps and the other side with something like this?

Oh yeah, totally agree, I might just have 1 bolt alone to make it harder to steal, if the nut is out of sight, people may give up on stealing them.
But yeah, If they are patient, they will steal anything anyway

@vonclicas i was just toying/ expanding on the idea that @Tacotim0321 brought up. but honestly, just strap the thing down and be done with it. Ratchet straps are the easier things to use for holding it down and they're abundant enough that any strap you find on the side of the highway is enough to hold down Max tracks.

if you're scared of someone stealing them, then leave them at home since you're most likely not wheeling if that's the case :cookiemonster:

My thoughts of a sleeve at the front for them to slip into and then a hinged clamp/bracket would be easy to remove and reinstall the traction boards. A lock on the rear hinged clamp would prevent theft.
