Good morning all! Happy Friday to those of us still forced to work for a living.

Had closing yesterday on refinancing my mortgage. Dropped my interest rate to 2.75% which knocks over $100 per month off my payment. Planning on just continuing to make the payment I've been accustomed to so that should knock roughly 7 years off my loan. Nice knowing though that if anything happens I now have a little more cushion should money get tight for unforeseen reasons. BTW Tacoma mods are NOT unforeseen reasons. Additional motorcycle purchase......might be another story.

I did this just after the last recession 10 or 12 years ago or so. It helped me to pay off my mortgage more quickly. It's nice to have no mortgage payments. By the way, those of us who no longer have to work do think of those of you who do. I really have no choice. For one, I am my daughter's chauffeur. Secondly, since my wife and daughter still work, I am my grandson's teacher 3 days a week and the one who drags him out of bed to actually go to the school the other two.

Hey PA people. My Wife misses wheeling / camping so we are in the market for a trail rig.

I’m simply not into it enough anymore to build another one... let me know if you or anyone you know has something they want to part with.

Does not need to be a Taco or even a Toyota. Also does not need to be road worthy. Just ready to hit some trails occasionally.

Might spend up to $7,500 for the right candidate. Auto (or manual with serious crawl reduction) required.

@Taco critter ’s? I saw that, but it’s manual. Karen does not want to wheel a manual, unfortunately.

No, Dan's. It's a bit rusty, but comes with skids, sliders and a plate bumper.

I've been kinda buggin the guy to sell me it since it started leaking power steering fluid. He took the pump off to rebuild it, but has 3 kids (3, 1, and 4 mo) so no interest in really fixing it. Been askin' him weekly (co-worker) when ya gonna sell me that $500 car? This week he said just come and get it, I think his fiancee has been on him about it  It's a 98 Legacy 2.2L with a 5 speed. It's got over 200K, but isn't even rotted around the rear wheelwells yet. I'm gonna slap that leaking pump on there and try and get it home. It's most likely quickly gonna get a timing belt kit and clutch master before I register it and put it on the road as well...

    No, short dark haired electrician.

Had half the campsite helping him install an RTT at Takeover two years ago.

My Dad and Step Mom are getting their 2nd Moderna vaccine today. Hoping they have good results as you did Mark! I always get nervous when my parents aren't feeling well.

In the end, I have some mild joint aches...pretty much have those every day at my age...that two Tylenol have eliminated. Lynn feels a little tired and her arm is sore at the injection site...she didn't do the push-ups. Lynn's 94 year old mom has no after effects.

After going to the family cemetery in Pittsburgh to pay my respects to my father, grandmother and some other relatives, I decided to rinse off the dirty truck. There was a self wash site off of Greenfield Ave. I found about $5 worth of quarters left there by a previous person, so I only spent $3. I must say this place is the best self wash site I have ever used. It gave me a great deal of time for the money I spent and the spot free rinse was the best. I used high pressure rinse, then high pressure soap, then spot free rinse. That's it. No drying the vehicle and not a spot, even on the windows. I then drove about 15 miles through Greenfield, Oakland (down Dawson St., where my father's Italian-American ancestors lived) and onto I-376 on my way to the Market District Giant Eagle in Settler's Ridge, about 15 miles. Even then, the truck looked good, as you can see from the picture I took in the parking lot. If you are near the city and wash your own vehicle, I recommend this wash site. It's called Pittsburgh Pride.

My wife has a 97 Legacy, has been a great little car.

This was my first ever "imported" car so I did a bunch of research, the people on the Subaru sites are really nuts over these cars (even more than Tacoma folks ;)) and I have come to respect and like the car.

It is easy to work on and parts aren't too expensive. I changed the timing belt, water pump, t-stat (genuine Subaru), plugs, wires and all the hoses when we got it 5 or 6 years ago. Hers is a 2.5 with 4 cams. The plugs are a pig to do -- I put in Denso Iridium.

I change the coolant every 2 years using Pentofrost A2 and a bottle of genuine Subaru coolant conditioner, I reuse the t-stat just replace the o-ring. I also use a high-zinc, high-phosphorus oil, 5-30 winter, 10-30 summer. The car runs like a watch and uses no oil.

Eventually she will need a retirement car as in buying to keep for 20-25 years, I have been studying on the Rav4, Forester, Crosstrek (in $$ order). The Crosstrek still has a manual transmission option, a big plus to me for long term ownership - I don't know how comfortable I am banking on getting 20+ years on a CVT.

Didn't intend to write a novel, I have a habit of over thinking things -- I also keep cheap old cars a long time and don't walk home very often... Good luck on the Subie project
