Brake lights stay on when head lights are on

If anyone has a problem with the brake light staying on when headlights are on check your tail/brake light bulb, 1157. On my 2002 Tacoma the left bulb contacts were flattened and touching one another. This caused a cross feed and both tail and brake light was on at the same time. Changed bulb and problem solved. My wife was following me and she noticed that the third light and brake light was on. I thought my brake switch was stuck. $25. later and it didn't fix it. One of those dumb little things that would be hard to trouble shoot. Google said, wrong bulb and some other hints.

 

I just noticed I was having this problem. You gave me a great starting point. Mine ended up being the trailer wiring.

 

Glad you were able to fix your problem. I did check mine and that wasn't it. I did a Google search and it came up with a couple things. Maybe these will help someone else.
