What's your wire size? It looks a little cold to me and like you are hanging out on the top bottom too long/out of the leading edge. It almost reminds me of when I zig zag going vert up. I am still a noob though, so I could be totally wrong.

I think I just need to go out and experiment more. I'll cut that open too and see how it penetrated.

You’re learning to use smaller muscle groups and they need training just like any athlete. Positioning is key to allowing them control instead of having to fight larger groups which causes trembling and fatigue. Basically learning to get out of your own way. The more relaxed you are the more automatic it gets. The skills are unique but how we develop and use them translates across just about every field.

Definitely one of those 'practice makes permanent' scenarios. I've got pretty good hand-eye coordination, so I think its just a matter of making sure I'm positioned right.

Might also be good to start practicing the weld before welding it - I've lost count of the number of times I'll be welding along and then snag my arm on something.

My wife bought me a ck worldwide flex head torch as an early birthday gift. She didn't mean to give it to me early I just so happened to walk up on it on the front porch when I got home from the parts store lol.

Try a cursive e for a pattern. It works on good fit up but as you can see from the crap in the middle joint, it doesn’t always work. Ended up grinding that one out and doing a wip motion of down and back into the puddle over and over AC34AEDD-69B5-4103-B4DF-78FDE55EECC5.jpg

I’ve got one too and used them for years. You’ll love it. To prolong life try to keep to bending it once it’s warmed up a bit. So weld for a bit before bending it.
They eventually fail cause the copper tubes inside split. I have run the same head unit for 10 years but have had guys on my crew kill one in 10 minutes bending cold and over bending it.
Also if it fails the head unit is replaceable you do not have to replace the whole torch. Just simple unthread the handle and gently slide it down to expose the line connections.
    Enjoy!

Tonight on Friday Night Penetration testing...looks like I need to get deeper into that corner, and probably slow down overall. I think?

Yep, I thought you needed less wire or more heat.

Went looking for less wire this morning, only welding shop in town that's open Sat morning didn't have miller tips smaller than .030. But they could rent me a bigger welder for $175 per week. Guess I'm gonna wait

If you have a tractor supply near by you can use Hobart tips (if I remember correctly) in your Miller gun, they’re made by the same people. I think ace hardware carries Hobart as well.

Tweco fits almost all the guns providing your machine was not made in Chad or southern Nepal.

Took advantage of the 20% off coupon at HF and got a Vulcan hood to use only for mig. Seems pretty similar to the Lincoln I have.
