You're making this WAY harder than it needs to be lol. Why wouldn't you just go grab a battery from costco/autozone/walmart and swap it out yourself? Its like a 3 minute install.... then just send Toyota the receipt they'll reimburse you.

No reason to be spending your day at a dealership over a battery bro get outta there!

So my battery died yesterday, I’ve had the worst luck with Toyota trucks. Had to jump it several times in two days. 2017 with 15000 miles. Went to the Dealer today and they reported a bad cell and replaced it with a Truestart 84 month warranty.

Why are people surprised their batteries are failing after 3 years? Seems about right to me.

Mine failed at 2 years. Not sure what type of vehicles you purchase but typically mine have failed at 5 years

Trucks, if you off-road, and subject the battery to all that vibration, 3 years in pretty normal. If just a street truck, then I agree 5+ years.

How are you guys getting your batteries reimbursed from Toyota? I called Toyota and was told I had "lots of coverage, up to 75,000 miles"... but then that "oh, batteries are exempted"... apparently even under 3yr / 36,000 miles

They also don't warranty your tires. Or your windshield wipers. Wearable part.

My 2014 CRV came new with an outragously small battery looked like a harley batt, sure enough within a few months it was having trouble unlocking doors, etc, I replaced with a 24F, barely fit, had to get a honda odessy battery tray, good to go after that, just put a new one in at 5 yrs. These mfgrs are getting skimpy on oem parts is what it is.

Fair enough, could argue most of the truck is "wearable", mine's 2yrs old 23000 miles, dead battery. Looks like I'm not the only one. Oh well. I put a good one in.

The battery was covered by warranty for my 2017 model year. It was covered under the 3 year/ 36000 mile warranty

2018 Tacoma with 20,000 km on the vehicle and my battery failed last night. This was after driving 600 km the other week on a road trip, so it should have been charged. A few odd things happened before I noticed that it wouldn't start such as the radio would shut out and the infotainment screen would black out but all other interior lights worked fine. I let it sit overnight and it barely started this morning when I drove it to the dealership (no jump and a 4 km drive). Low and behold the truck started fine every time after that, which seems weird to have it charge so quickly over a very short distance and time. The battery test showed that it's still in very good condition and 80% charged. I've never had an issue starting after listening to the radio for an hour or two without the truck on so I'm not sure. Dealership wouldn't switch out the battery because it performed fine for them and they didn't experience the ticking with no engine turn over that I noticed. Hopefully it holds up for another year.

Doesn’t the new Jeep have two batteries? A normal one and a secret one in a hidden compartment?

whatever our problems are, the Fiat boys got it worse.

When you look at the hassle you need to go through to get at the second battery, I assume it’s a technology they brought over from Maserati.

At just over 3 years old my battery was dead and wouldn't take a charge, so I converted to a group 31.... sucks that I have motorcycles that have had batteries in them for 10 years, and they fire right up after months of setting....

Toyota does not make them. They are just cheap batteries. I bought an AGM the first month of getting my new Tacoma. I just don't care for liquid acid batteries.

Heard the stock batteries have a short lifespan. Mine only lasted under 1.5 years. Replaced it with a different one and haven’t had a problem for about 3 years now. I probably should have it changed soon.

10 years on my factory battery
5 years and counting on my free replacement battery from toyota

I'd be more concerned about the frame
