    Hello all,

I hope this is allowed and I'm in the correct group.
I have a 2017 still under warranty that's had the famous timing chain leak repaired 2 or 3 times already. and is leaking again.
Do you guys know how a Toyota buy back would work and what I should watch out for?
I don't think Toyota will extend the warranty since I got it end of 2016 according to Toyota Corp.
The warranty expires this coming September and the truck has 36k miles. The last repair was done less than 10k miles ago.
I don't want to be worrying about having this possible repair every 10k miles once the warranty expires.
Toyota is supposed to call me next week to explore possibilities.

    What do you guys think?

    TIA.

After looking at the Ranger, run away unless you're looking at the F series.

Wouldn't this qualify for the California lemon law?

If they're going to buy it back, they're going to give you whatever reasonable wholesale is. Don't get your hopes up for some sort of windfall - or basically anything above and beyond what you'd get trading or selling it yourself. Maybe they'll "make you a deal" on a new one as part of the deal, but that "deal" is unlikely to be anything you couldn't work out on your own with a dealer.

If you're worried about the longevity after warranty expires, dump it. Get something else.

Care to expand why on this? Ranger will be one of the trucks I look at in the future so if you have experience, it would be appreciated.

How much do you owe vs what the truck is worth? If you have positive equity in it I would trade it in and get a new model if you can afford it. Like you said it was already fixed 3 times, and the lemon laws are usually only for the first couple years of having the truck. You having a 2017 the warranty should've been up last year, not this upcoming sept

Well purchase what you want, but my brother is a Ford mechanic for over 30 years. He told me to steer away from the rebooted Ranger. He told me if I was set on a Ford go F series or nothing.

I believe as long as you still have the original manufacture warranty the lemon law applies. CA might be a little different.

Yea F150 is like a comfort truck, it would have been a F250 or 350 for me.

I'd wait till toyota tells you what they want to do. Thats kind of a big piece of the equation that is currently missing. If they're willing to buy back the truck, and at what price - that makes a big difference.

The other fun thing to realize is that every company makes lemons, and every company makes solid trucks. Its luck of the draw, although some have better ratios than others.

Gooood luck fighting a lemon law claim - even if it's theoretically possible. By the time you find a decent attorney knowledgable on the matter, you will have spent enough time, money and stress to make the whole thing an exercise in futility.

Not sure how lemon law works
For all those call backs they should give you the extended warranty
    I think its 7yrs 125
This would give you some time to think
