Does anyone know what the brown connector is connected on top of the silver part that sits under the storage compartment. It’s the long brown 3/4 inch by 3 inch piece you can see in front of the two wholes in that silver bracket that would be under rear cup holders close to floor? Thanks for any info. This is in a 2017 Tacoma Double Cab 4x4.

It seems like a connector holder. It has a small two wire connected into it. But no wire coming out of it into anything. Wondered if I could connect usb hub to it in rear for power. It has a tan and yellowish wires coming to it from front of console somewhere. The pic is not mine. I only have rear panel under cup holders removed so far.

Thanks! I have a 2017 Tacoma TRD Off Road Double Cab. Need more power in rear seat for kids. Lol! Was hoping this might be an option for power without removing the rest of the console to get power from the front.

isnt it some sort of power converter???? For the rear outlet in the bed or something???

Hopefully someone else chimes in haha

EDIT: I misread your first reply, I dont know what the brown thing is specifically. I thought you were talking about the larger, silver box.

    that’s your interior oscillator.

you break that or screw with it you won’t be able to start your truck.
It senses the key inside the vehicle

So I’m guessing thats not a good option for getting power for a usb outlet then. Lol! Thanks Tacoma Mike for the information.

I was hoping it was a additional power connection just put in in case a factory option for power was put in that area to connect it too. Darn!!! Guess I gotta rip more plastic out then.

Found this shortly after I read your comment Tacoma Mike. I was messing with it looking for a number on it. Luckily I didn’t mess it up. Truck still unlocks fine and starts and drives. So I’m guessing I didn’t mess it up. Thanks for filling me in on the info before I tapped into the wires. That would be a sucky situation to mess up my truck.

Tap the 2 wires that connect to the cigarette outlet in the center console, then run your wires under the console and put a USB there

304_Taco that is probably what I’ll do. I was just hoping I could tap in to those wires and not have to take the whole center console apart. Now that I know not to mess with that connector, looks like I’ll be taking the console apart. Lol!

It's not a bad job, most of it is popping the panel clips lose and the take out the 2 bolts in the bottom of the center console. There's a handful of YouTube videos that should walk you through it

This is your best option. Make sure you have a connector disconnect for those wires. Hard wiring stuff
that needs removal is infuriating for people that work work on them.
