You should be fine, in hindsight why didn’t you just cut the legs off the ladder, it was ruined anyway. Just a thought.

This reminded me of when I was little tike, and I watched my father back his big Chevy van over his tool box, it lifted the rear axle enough to lift a tire, so it couldn't move. I think he just jacked it up, and slide out tool box.
Now that I look back on it: I guess I got yelled at, because I was laughing so loud, haha!

That poor truck is a goner, next time it sees so much as a speed bump, it’s gonna shutdown. Just shoot it now, the long slow death over the next 30+ years will be too much to bear, scrap it now while you can.

no disconnect at all. You pay the service for what they do. Now if the guy comes out during off hours, midnight, etc, I can see tipping. But it's your money, do with it what you will. Fact is, I tip when someone goes above and beyond their job description. In the case of servers at restaurants, tips are part of their income. So of course I tip. I have tip'd my local UPS carrier for being so good.

In some countries tipping is frowned upon and they hate it when Americans go over there and tip severs etc. So it's all relative.

    Truck damage? Doubtful.

    Step stool damage? RIP :infantry:

FWIW, look into the Werner folding benches to replace the stool. They are about 2' tall. Perfect for many tasks, much handier than a 5' ladder.

Lifting the truck with the hitch is fine.

What brand of ladder is that? If it’s that durable, I want one.

First welcome to TW, second as a firefighter/EMT thank you for being smart enough to accept you weren't comfortable and calling a pro! Your ego may get slightly bruised, but you still have all your limbs! Third, as many have said, there isn't much there to hurt. And finally, it happens, I may have had to yard a tricycle (fortunately with no child attached) out from under my truck many years ago. I have not jumped in any vehicle and just backed up since!
