My Brake, ABS, and VSC lights on my 2017 TRD Off Road recently came on. Since the Brake light is on I assumed something is wrong with the basic brake system. Checked calipers, pads, shoes, etc. and everything seems fine. The brake pedal seem spongy so I checked to see if there was pressure at the calipers and bleeders squirted fine. Checked the back wheel cylinders and there was nothing. I assume now my master cylinder is bad. I go to get a replacement master cylinder and online none of them look like mine even though they say its a fit. Looked on the Toyota parts site and it's still not clear to me. Which master cylinder do I have and what's the replacement part number. Been doing a lot of searching with no luck so any help would greatly appreciated. Thanks.master_cylinder.jpg

You need to go have the code read and not just throw parts at it.

The ORs have a master/booster different from other models and I hear pretty expensive. Which is why what you are seeing online is different that what you have. 'Cause online isn't always the cat's meow. And failed masters are rarely reported on this board.

Opening the system and bleeding it (with ABS) is not a particularly easy process. It needs a tool like Techstream to work the ABS to keep from burning up the solenoids.

All that said, I think you've jumped to the wrong conclusion. You need a code(s) reading to determine what's up. I've seen all those lights come on with a loose / cocked gas cap that merely correcting the cap position and clearing the code solved the problem. Not saying this is your problem, just that you need more info before dropping big $ .

Well if the fronts have pressure, and the rears don't, you need to figure out why. It sounds to me like me like the master cylinder is working.
Definitely do more diagnosis before buying that expensive MC, or even take it to a tech, it could be a simple and cheap problem.
Pick-a-part is almost always a loser.

I jumpered the 2 pins on the OBD connector and it blinked a code of “58” on the ABS light. I couldn’t find too much on that. Was also told if the Brake light is solid it’s typically something with the basic brake hydraulic components.

Do you want a mind-blower? How old is your battery?

The standard voltage is 11 to 14V. All those computers and systems need a good battery. 2017 MY so that battery could be up to five years old. Have the battery tested first.

Battery Good, visually inspect all four wheel sensors. On the rear axle, one is towards the back, one towards the front. Guess which ones rocks like hitting?

You need someone with a scanner to read out and tell you what they are seeing.

I'll be the first to admit things were easier to troubleshoot in 1980 (technician days).
