Beautiful sunny day here in N. California, about 70 today. Had a lot of chores planned today but will have to postpone them for a few days. Went to urgent care yesterday for pain in my left side. Diagnosed with diverticulitis. It’s an inflammation of the colon that causes pain and other GI problems. Given 2 different antibiotics for 10 days and am on a soft diet. I’ve had it before and knew my diagnosis. It is something more prevalent as we get older. Everything seems more prevalent as I get older. So the steaks went back into the freezer and the Cabernet was put back in the wine rack. It will give me a chance to catch up on my reading. For now I’ll live vicariously on the reports of you all’s grilling and cooking. Be well, stay safe.

Sprig, Not to disagree with you, but only to add to your information about diverticulitis, both my sister and my brother in law had it, and it is more than just an inflammation, being caused by a variety of foods that are harder to digest trapped in pockets and polyps in the colon. My brother in law had a section of his colon removed because of it, which was very successful. Good luck with yours, certainly not a pleasant experience, I'm sure.

Yes I know well about diverticulitis. Part of my background is medical. As we get older tiny pouches form in our colon called diverticula. These pouches can become inflamed and infected. Antibiotics generally resolve it but in severe cases IV antibiotics is required and sometimes surgery. The best way to avoid diverticulitis is by eating a high fiber diet. I need to get back to eating more fiber. It is more prevalent in men, overweight individuals and smokers. At least I have never smoked. And I could benefit by losing a few pounds.

I figured it was "inspected by number 6".

    Diverticulitis can be bad news.

My wife suffered a ruptured colon. She didn't discuss poop with anyone, not even with her doctor. Her poop was a ribbon about 1/8" x 1" wide. Ruptured the ascending colon! Christmas 2005. She went into a coma two days before Christmas, woke up after the day after. Three months of ICU. Ileostomy, ostomy, loop ostomy. Arts and crafts cutting out stoma adhesive. Nine surgeries finally did a takedown. SO about 1/4 of a normal colon. She doesn't gain weight but needs a ton of water to keep hydrated. What a crazy ride this has been!

We did about a year of home health care; my daughter and I got the merit badges for wet to dry dressings (4 x day for a year). My heart starts racing, thinking about it.

The funniest part, during pre-op, the Nurse was asking about drugs for post-recovery. We started listing off what worked, what didn't work. The Nurse was suddenly, "I've got a couple of druggies in here." We had to back up and explain that we had almost 20 surgeries in the past 10 years between the two of us. It was feet, knees, back, lung, and brain; then we started listing hers. We love watching medical dramas (nope, that's wrong...)

Everyone. Look up Bristol Stool Chart. Let your doctor know. Hint if you poop a ribbon 1/8" x 1" something is very medically wrong. For my wife, TMI!

I might reconsider whether this is an appropriate forum for a man of my maturity to frequent regularly. I've come to believe that while there are nuggets of knowledge that one may toy with as a very small child, in my vast experience, the various examples of formed or unformed episodes in my lifetime have been unworthy of consideration for awards of excellence. Indeed, I have no urge to emulate a dog in the close examination of what has been left behind, and regardless of how these things may interest some others, I do invariably close the lid and actuate the handle of convenience, thereby preserving an air of deniability that is most certainly appreciated by the average thinking man or woman.

Good morning, all!! Quiet weekend here. AT least with the temps in the 40s and the rain, we got rid of much of the snow. Still a lot to go, though. Stay safe and warm out there!

Good Morning Folks. March already...and it will be time to head home for the annual ritual we all pretty much dislike...tax time. Just a little true story. My dad took care of the family finances, so when he passed on, my Mom got all the papers she could find and went to an accountant and he was able to get all the tax liabilities etc. up to date and paid. He then told my Mom she didn't have to pay anymore taxes(on the estate and for that year). She thought (true story) because of being over 65, she would never have to pay or file taxes ever again. I didn't catch wind of this until she was living with us and she got an IRS nasty gram. It cost her a bundle for an accountant to straighten everything out and thank goodness when all was said and done she only had to pay $800 to the gov't. I think she learned after that because every year after that she made sure I took her to get her taxes done.
Have a great day and be safe.

    Good morning all,

Warm days and very cold nights make for ice all over the property, still crunching through but have to be very careful walking in certain areas of the property where it gets more sun that other. Dogs don't even like sliding uncontrollably. This is Yaktrax time of year.

Have several conference calls today, possible third quarter work... Fingers crossed.

Have a great and safe day everyone.

    Morning all!
I took the F-150 on a 30 mile run in the rain earlier this morning on "The Casey", better known as the race track. Officially named the Robert P. Casey Highway.
Speed limit is 65. I set the cruise at the break neck speed of 68...what a rebel :)
Needless to say I was getting passed like I was standing still!
It's my yearly ritual. I do it to get the slop and the wonderful salt and brine washed off. I'm sure that there's still some underneath somewhere!
My wife and I have our quarterly call w/Fidelity shortly.
    Have a good day!!

    Hi all

just got back from the Dentist for the 6 month cleaning and check. Got the all good and see ya in the fall.
I’m always happy to see March knowing the spring walleye run will be soon on the rivers. I generally start around St. Patties day. I know it’s dependent on water temps but I like to start early so I don’t miss the peak. Nothing like fresh walleye for eating and getting out with my son and grandson.

    Tight lines

Unfortunately we don’t have walleye in California but many years ago I was fishing in Wyoming and caught several. Fried them up that evening in camp and they were awesome eating fish.

    Morning all:
:woot: another walleye fisherman on here, now I can get some how to catchum advice!
What type of boat is that Will, looks like a TRACKER GRIZZLY going by the TRAC I see on the gunnel. If it is, I have two of them, a 1648 MV blind duck with a 30/40 Yamaha jet on it that I use on a river, and a 1654 FB that I either have a 9.9, 15, or 30 hp. outboard on depending on where and how I'm fishing.
That TRAC is clean, I have mine loaded up with all types of brackets for rod holders, lights, small switch panels, downriggers, etc.!
Love that TRAC system, don't need to drill holes in anything for mounting most accessories.

My truck is a 2009 TRD Sport 4x4 DCLB with a matching shell, recently painted, interior is pristine, 103000 miles. Someone who I know asked if I wanted to sell it and said they’d give me $21,000. It was a serious offer. Blew me away , I had no idea of it’s worth. I love that truck and I ain’t selling. I’m amazed at the value of a 12 year old truck.
